  • Play more Windows games on the Mac with the new CrossOver 24

$24 per YEAR. SMH. Uh, no.

  • iPhone 17 Slim specs will be an enormous engineering & supply chain challenge

This has got to be some type of false flag. A thinner phone just seems so far from anything than anyone is wanting that it doesn't make sense for Apple to be putting significant effort into it unless they've just some deep seated design love they feel the must share with the world.

  • Music industry pushing back against Apple Music, Apple TV+ master bundle

    This would be amazing!

Amazon offer bundles with their music, tv and prime shipping, so Apple should also be able to bundle this way too. They must both have contracts with the same music labels.

My guess on bundles and pricing:
$30 for Music, arcade, news, tv and 200gb cloud storage.
$40 for family plan with above and 2tb storage.

What do you think it would bundle and cost?

Take it one step further. Let Apple provide you with a current generation phone + apple care + services for $70/month...there will be some takers for sure.

  • Apple's iPhone 17 Slim is a wrongheaded approach that ignores what people really want

For me, current iPhones are too heavy and too big, plus they’ve got plenty of battery life.

I bought an iPhone 16 Pro and returned it on day 14 because of its unwieldy size and weight.

I don’t care about a “slim” phone at all, but give me something with a smaller screen and a lighter weight and I’m interested, even if it means pulling features, reducing cameras, etc.

  • Apple is rumored to radically change up the iPhone 18 release schedule

I don't understand why you would stagger a iphone with the same number over a 2 year release like that
The market is so mature that annual releases really aren't making as much sense, especially with the average upgrade cycle for buyers getting longer. Personally, I was a new iPhone every year like most AI readers when the iPhone first came out, and then it was every other cycle, and I think now I've gone 3 years and I'm still not sure I want to upgrade this year when a better camera and Apple AI being the biggest gains that I'd see (which aren't that important to me at the moment).
This. When my 12 Mini died, I bought an iPhone 16 Pro 256GB but it didn't feel any better in most ways and felt worse in some ways (error-prone AI photo processing, slow onboard AI rather than fast cloud-based AI, larger and heavier, etc.) so I returned it and bought a new iPhone 13 mini off eBay for 1/3 the cost. Please, Apple, give us a reason to upgrade.

  • All iPhone 18 models rumored to get speed boost from 2nm chips

With 2nm this means less power requirements. I’d think this opens some serious options for a new mini phone.

My 13 mini is still going strong but one day it will break and I sure don’t want anything bigger than this. Nor do I look forward to folding phones, whatever great breakthroughs are being made.  I just don’t care. For me the mini is the sweet spot. I’d actually like it to be even smaller, like the 5S.

Ah well, it never hurts to keep dreaming, even if it’s in vain.
I’m in the same boat. My 12 Mini died last year and I bought a 16 Pro 256gb for $1100 hoping I’d just get used to the size but I hated it and returned it after 14 days. Ended up with a used 13 Mini off eBay for $350. Apple is leaving a lot of money on the table by not offering a new Mini. I’m holding this until I can’t use it anymore unless Apple releases another mini.

  • M5 iPad Pro is in testing ahead of a late 2025 release

I figure I'm the target upgrade market for an OLED iPad.

I am a current iPad Pro owner, and I've been waiting since 2020 for them to release one.

Then they priced it at $999. Too much.

Perhaps I'll grab a discounted m4 iPad when the m5 or m6 iPads come out.

  • iPhone 17 lineup names may be coming into focus

Steve Jobs would be rolling in his grave. He wanted a simple product lineup. The average consumer is going to glaze over with this many options.

    iPhone 17
    iPhone 17 Pro

That's it. Plus the prior year models.

  • Apple offers 25% off LG UltraFine 4K and 5K displays for limited time

Glad to see Apple moving a bit on this. Those monitor prices are still pretty steep, but palatable at least. Now move your base MBP 13" to $1,300 and your MBP with TB 13" to $1,500, and give them 512GB SSD and we're in a good space.
  • Everyone is a loser in the Apple Intelligence race

This article feels like low effort and poorly contextualized arguments about AI.

“I remember when this whole "Artificial Intelligence" thing started. It was and still is a bad name for an evolution of technology that has nothing to do with computers knowing anything.“

No you don’t. It started in the 1950s. It was being deployed into businesses in the 1980s. It was widespread by the 2000s.

AI has everything to do with computers knowing things. Do you think humans know things any differently than a bunch of connections forming patterns??
