  • Kindle adds 'Get Book' buy button to where it always belonged

All this legislating from the bench will hopefully be dealt with before too long. In the meantime, it’s exposing these shady organizations (who make money from other being on their stores) as extortionists, only putting in work if they don’t pay to be in someone else’s store.

It’s why I no longer have an Amazon subscription nor a Spotify one. It’s a matter of principle. Doesn’t alter my lifestyle at all. I’ve always found it healthier and have met lots of good people by always avoiding the card reader at the pump and the self-checkout at various retailers. Going to the human being at the register is the way to go.

Apple Books are usually presented much nicer than kindle anyway. And Apple Music has inched closer to the old iTunes simplicity that Spotify copied to begin with.

To each his own, but I don't get it. Would anyone schlep all the way from the gas pump into the station, probably waste time on a line behind people who need to be there to pay cash or buy something, just to use a card anyway???

Personally, I use the self checkout whenever possible. I would rather checkout a cart full of groceries myself rather than unload on to a conveyor belt and then have the cashier ring  and bag it. It's faster and in most stores I get to ring up and bag it all the way I want.

Hmmm, think that should have been the lead? Perhaps stay in your own lane and let others run things the way they want without your criticism based on “but what do I know?” insights.

Amazon sells an awful lot of Amazon Echo Shows, so some people must find the concept useful.

  • Apple brings Maps traffic data to four smaller European countries

Apple doesn't generate traffic data, just displays it. Traffic data needs to come from somewhere. With few exceptions, the required infrastructure is probably not much of a priority for anybody in Africa or the mid-east.
  • Lightning iPhones get real USB-C support with custom case

Clever, but it's not a product. It's a 'look what I can do' prototype.
Also, other than not needing to have a Lightning cable around, what's the point? It wouldn't add any functionality or improvement to an older iPhone. The phone won't charge or transfer data any faster.

In the real world, did anyone upgrade an iPhone just to get the USB-C connector? Maybe some folks wanted the improvements that were added, but the connector itself? I doubt it.

If only that were true. Worked in an office with a Mac-equipped design team and they too experienced complete crashes.

And I don’t know how get through to your thick head. You keep wagging on about being forced to turn over your phone. You are NOT BEING FORCED to do anything. The police ask your to let them inspect your phone under this law. You say no and that’s it. What’s unconstitutional about this law? The asking? The police can’t ask you to do this voluntarily? Is that what you are saying? In refusing you lose your driving privileges for 90 days. So again what part of this law is unconstitutional?
You just stated the unconstitutional part, that you'd be punished for exercising your rights…

Not true at all. There is absolutely no difference between this and a breathalyzer. You agree to submit to a breathalyzer when you get your license or face revocation of your license.(the privilege). Period. End of story. You have a constitutional right not to submit to the breathalyzer but that does not mean your privilege to drive can not be revoked. People surrender their rights all the time. Non-disclosure agreements limit free speech, but they are entered into voluntarily, just like obtaining a driver's license. Breathalyzer results are not the preferred evidence in a DWI case, but it more easily allows the prosecutor to obain a blood test, which is more reliable. This test will likely make it easier to obtain a warrant for the phone. That test will better indicate whether the phone was being used lawfully (hands free) during the incident.
  • Dead body found at Apple's Infinite Loop headquarters [ux3]

Its the employee who gave the FBI the key.

Noooooo. They never would have left the body at the HQ.
