  • iPadOS 16 may be delayed until new iPads ship

I'm not sure I'm buying this. Of the three, iPadOS seems the most ready to launch. macOS is definitely the least ready. It's stable, but as implemented on macOS Stage Manager just doesn't seem useful even were it bug free.

  • Inside Consumer Reports: Controversies surrounding the MacBook Pro and HomePod

The trouble with Consumer Reports is that they believe adding up all the numbers for a bunch of discrete tests actually tells you how good a product is. They don't have any Apple bias, except that Apple products tend to be more about the experience than the specifications.
Consumer Reports seems to think transparency in how bad their testing is means that scientifically accurate tests of real world scenarios are not required. Who using debugging tools to disable cache and calls that a real world scenario? Great on them for admitting they did that (eventually), but it's still not a real scenario.

So what did the Thunderbolt Display cost, back in the day?
The US retail price at introduction was $999.

A large part of the reason why Intel and AMD continue to remain dominant is because of Microsoft’s dominance, especially in enterprise.
I think this is simplifying a bit too much. If Microsoft was truly dominant, they would have successfully moved to ARM years ago. Instead, the dominance is the combination of Windows + x86, and while Microsoft might be influencing it they're not really controlling it. Maybe in the future, once the Qualcomm deal ends, if Microsoft puts more might into ARM.

It's sort of like if I forget to lock my front door and a burglar just walks in and steals stuff — yes, I should have locked my door, but it was the burglar who actually ruined the day.
That's not a great analogy, because it's more like all that but when the thief came the house spontaneously sank into the earth.
