  • Kensington TB550 Pro Fit Ergo Trackball review: a solid entry-level trackball mouse

I've gone through a plethora of mice and various assorted trackballs (both finger- and thumb-controlled) over the past four decades. I can use any of them, but have long since come to prefer the Magic Trackpad. Why not? We're used to having trackpads on our laptops. The Magic Trackpad is just as easy to use as the built-in ones. In fact, recent MacBooks have built-in trackpads about the same size as the Magic Trackpad 2. Install BetterTouchTool and it becomes incredibly versatile. I have sets of functions for each app that allow me to do a ton of things without having to reach for modifier keys. In my web browser alone, I can cut, copy, paste, select all, undo, redo, go back, go forward, zoom, open in new tab, open contextual menu, reopen closed tab, reopen closed window, show all history, open new private window, screen shot, home, end, page up, page down, close window, quit, open BTT's clipboard manager, reload, press Escape and more without ever reaching for the keyboard. That's on top of my system-wide functions that for instance allow me to sleep my systems with a simple four-finger click. And unlike trackballs, the Magic Trackpad doesn't need to be cleaned periodically.

  • Apple's iPhone is boiling oil resistant -- briefly

Give me a minute to think, when was the last time I was boiling oil?
Well, when the Saxons had crossed my moat and were climbing the ramparts, I needed something to repel them.

  • Apple Watch may gain a new fabric band

Fabric is my choice. Metal bands tend to be heavy and their edges dig into my wrist. Silicone bands aren't breathable. Nylon webbing is breathable and very light. There are times when I forget I'm wearing the watch.

  • iPhone 15 Pro Max somehow fails to survive having a 90lb dumbbell dropped on it

If he's a personal trainer, why are his legs so scrawny?

Frankly, this guy is a menace. First, too dumb to know that lithium and water don't mix. Second, he keeps dropping heavy weights at the gym. Any gym should ban him because he's hazardous to their equipment and to their other clients.

  • Authy got hacked, and 33 million user phone numbers were stolen

So 2FA was supposed to make everything more secure but brings its own risks. What a surprise.

  • No need for 4K display on Apple's iPhone 7 because of screen quality, expert claims

Steve Jobs once said that Apple starts from user experience and works back to the technology that makes it happen, instead of starting from the technology and working towards user experience.
If only someone could get Apple to apply that philosophy to the terrible quality of their earbuds.
