  • Apple boycott by Chinese firms supporting Huawei is escalating

The Five Eyes already has a lot Huawei gear. Nothing surprising in that. What is new is the US desperately trying to stop Huawei progress for technological and political reasons under the guise of security and doing so, so late in the day that the UK roll out of 5G could be put back by a year and cost a lot more. All without a shred of evidence.
There is nothing technological in their progress, other then how they steal IP. Huawei is simply one of the arms of the Chinese gov-t, when it comes to spying. And given the fact that they sold whole bunch of cheap routers to many country, they might have quite a reach. Having a compromised set of routers might just provide that backdoor the Chinese military need to "downloan" all the info in your company's network, without you even knowing/noticing it. Given the scope of IP theft that has been done by China, you don't really have a lot to defend Huawei (Chinise gov-t) with. Sorry. Benefit of the doubt does not work in this case, as we already know 1) what China is capable of 2) Chinese gov-t is going to a great length in defending Huawei. In fact, they even think Apple is guilty of the same as  Huawei is...hence their recent actions in regards to "discouraging" people from buying Apple products. I bet, that "recommendation" came directly from the govt.. That tells everything you need to know about the extent of their involvement and all the whys.

Unsurprisingly, the gov entertains the existence of these false entities wasting time and energy in a pay to play judicial system. How about restricting patent trolling to only those entities (and respective subsidiaries) that actually have a successful product which they can whine about?
Then, if a person wants to come up with an idea, he wont be able to get it patented due to a rule you have just proposed, and assumg he had no money for setting up the production.

What a joke. What a waste of time. Spending time and resources on catering to a tiny micro-percentage of weirdos.
Dude, you’re hardly one to talk about what’s normal or weird, the way you talk around here. In fact, YOU are the minority in this case: a bitter guy who can’t stand change that is being embraced by young people
So, by definition he is oppressed, because he is a minority and he needs to dictate to everyone what they should be doing and how they should be viewing the world.

  • EU lawmakers snub Apple's pleas, overwhelmingly vote to push for charging cable standard

I’m so happy the Brits said “enough of this nonsense@ and left the EU. A bunch of idiots making decisions that entire countries and cultures need to adapt... sounds like a terrible idea. These fools have no idea what they’re even voting in.
yep. They had at least some sense. The rest will get bent by USSR EU politicians who are divorced from reality and were never elected by those they bend over...

A highly political article under which Comments are allowed!  Refreshing!

    LET FREEDOM REIGN!

that would be great, but comments have already been deleted..
If you need insight as to why, feel free to read the commenting guidelines.
I left only one comment and it was not disrespectful or rude in any way. It was simply pointing out facts specifically - how financing works for election campaigns. It got deleted, it seems.

  • Apple chip supplier TSMC preps first-ever 3-nanometer factory as founder announces retirem...

Man, this was supposed to be physically impossible. A silicon atom itself is about ¼ of a nanometer. Would love to see some information about how they’re avoiding having quantum tunneling shatter any useful results.

Really dont understand how this would be practical pr cost effective. Really expected to change from silicon to graphene for so many reasons, none the least of which is how much easier it is to make single atom chains of graphene. Maybe that’s part of the plan and just wasn’t described today.
Si atoms are not what conducts electricity, though. It is just used as a base material of a wafer..

So, what happens, if I as a developer, pay for that bot voting, except that the goal would be to increase the number of positive reviews of my main competitor, while also giving negative reviews to the apps of all other developers (including my own), thereby setting that guy up?
    Just some food for thought....

Not trying to be on the side of that developer....but I am curious as to how that would play out?

Fraud is fraud no matter the motive. I guess you flunked your ethics class, huh.
That is not what my comment was about. Also, I didn't say/imply that I supported the developer...

Dongle hell. Moving DAC into a dongle, shocking
It is not. But moving DAC right where your ear is will give you a better sound quality by not transmitting that analogue signal through wires. The shorter the path, the better it is.

Please don't take us back to ultra thin fonts. (@renders)
Why? IMHO current day of week and date font looks terrible...and absolutely tasteless. I was shocked to see that change made by Apple in its iOS 10 version.

The way it looked in pre iOS 10 versions was definetely more elegant and also provided a separation of string with time from day/date string by having a thinner/smaller font for the latter. Now, it is not the case anymore
