Apple's new tvOS 13 for Apple TV is now available
Mike Wuerthele said:As a reminder, comments like "I don't see it yet" aren't helpful.
We don't publish until at least one staffer sees it on a device. As you're all aware, the rollout takes some time, and is CDN and caching-dependent.
Does anyone know what the latest roll out times are? One time my Apple TV didn't auto update for a week!JinTech said:It's interesting that an OS for your TV gets multi-user support before an iPad OS
iPad is still a more personal device whereas most Apple TVs are in a living room.priced4evil said:zroger73 said:I REALLY hope the "preview" feature can be turned off unlike Netflix.
Why? It's unobtrusive and the sound is muted until you swipe up to watch full screen. -

Apple's iPad still leading global tablet market despite Amazon surge
If Amazon achieves higher marketshare selling 20 buck knockoff iPads you'll begin to hear the doom news and teasing from the android boys.bigtds said:I didn't know all the other tablets had that big of a market share. Go figure.
Most non-iPads are in a drawer or in the landfill. Heck monitoring has proved that most aren't online. -

Apple TV+ boasts highest bitrate of any 4K streaming service, report says
I had a debate with someone on here months ago. I asked if every show/movie on TV+ will be filmed in native 4K to support Apple devices. His argument was that it's "not important". I disagree and believe it's a selling point. TV+ may be the only service with 100% 4K content.disneylandman said:So now Apple is trying to push the 'quality' of the stream...too bad all 9 shows are boring as hell and not worth watching. Pathetic for a streaming service with only 9 shows. They are all getting lousy reviews. Way to go Apple.smaffei said:Remember when Apple used to make the MHz arguments in the 1990s? They were advocating that the sheer numbers don't describe the whole picture.Well, seems like they are on the other side of that argument now. Who cares what the "bitrate" is if the shows stink?
You guys didn't read the article did you? Sh** you guys didn't even read the headline!!

A5X: How Apple took iPad to a luxury tier rivals couldn't match
atomic101 said:AppleExposed said:davebarnes said:We upgraded our iPads to the retina versions the day they were available.
Now, our iPads are "good enough" and we sit here with money [burning a whole in our pockets] waiting for the resolution to double again.
I don't care about: speed, camera, color.
I care about image quality.
Sorry to say but doubling the resolution would not make a difference in image quality unless you use your iPad less than 1 foot from your face
Color on the other hand IS image quality and the human brain is more sensitive to color than resolution. So an HDR iPad would be a worthy upgrade.I use my iPad Pro from a comfortable distance and can still discern pixel elements (jagged lines, fuzziness, and the screen door effect) on certain text and graphics. A resolution bump, when it becomes feasible considering cost and power constraints, would be very welcome and noticeable to me. It seems that would be the case for other people, who you seem to be quick to dismiss.
Retina tech is based on fact not opinion. You're either holding the iPad too close to your face or your unit is broken.
My color comment is also based on science and fact, not my opinion at all. -
Apple Store revenue grows to 31% of Apple's income for 2019
lkrupp said:Yet another Apple success story the pundits said would fall flat on its face. Longtime Apple users screamed bloody murder that their local reseller shops, usually hole-in-the wall mom and pop stores would be forced out of business. They were. The big box retailers like Best Buy, CompUSA, Sears, and the rest treated Apple like the proverbial red headed stepchild. With the exception of Best Buy, they are all gone, forgotten, at the bottom of the trash heap of history. Then there are the businesses that tried to hop on the company store train. There were Sony stores in malls, Bang and Olufsen stores, Bose stores, all gone. Now we have Microsoft stores that are largely empty and just happen to be located close to Apple stores. Samsung stores are apparently a joke. My grudge against those retailers remains today and I always buy my Apple gear directly from Apple.
Another news story that will be quietly swept under the rug.
"With the exception of Best Buy, they are all gone..."
Hmmm I wonder why?
" My grudge against those retailers remains today and I always buy my Apple gear directly from Apple."
I keep grudges for a long time too. Like the idiots who claimed iPhone wouldn't work and now use knockoffs that function and look identical, when they said iPad was just "a giant iPod touch" that no one needed and now they're using some crappy knockoff from Samsung or 20 buck Amazon Fire and recently the idiots who claim Samsung/Huawei stores "look nothing" like Apple Stores even though you couldn't tell them apart from a short distance.neoncat said:lkrupp said:My grudge against those retailers remains today and I always buy my Apple gear directly from Apple.
The experience is why I shop there. You may be happy getting your Apple TV from an abandoned aisle at a Wal Mart but I like to make it a memory especially with family. Everyone has their reasons. I bought my first Apple TV 4K at an Apple store with younger siblings who'd never been to an Apple Store. They LOVED it as they played with devices and colored/drew on iPad Pros with Pencils. BUT I've also bought an Apple TV from AT&T during a promotion which I got it for free.
If everyone thought like you, Apple Stores would be closed. -

So far all of Apples programs seem different from each other and that's good for subscribers. As long as they keep Tims politics out of it.
