    My experience with the single-drive Synology NAS line was abysmal. It's hard to convey how very, very slow the management web interface was. It took forever to start up from a power-on. Also, Time Machine backups would time out without completing 99% of the time, even (or maybe even especially) the incremental ones. Using the included apps for serving media (like Plex) was also incredibly slow and incredibly buggy. Overall, it was completely unsuited to being a reliable and usable NAS for any of my desired functions: file server, media server, or backup server.
