  • iPadOS 17.5 beta teases OLED display upgrade for 2024 iPad Pro models

I very highly doubt that OLED will “revolutionize the visual experience” as the article states. The quality of the current iPad is already excellent. So it’s basically going to go from excellent to even more excellent?
OLED has per pixel dimming. Every pixel can be controlled individually in terms of brightness. That's a significant advantage versus the current display. Apple did an excellent job packing as many dimming zones into the current model iPad Pro as they did but it's still inferior to per pixel control.
And in return you get PWM and all kinds of color shifts on lower brightness, making the device uncomfortable for content consumption in low light, much like Tab S9 series.

  • Trump's new China trade deal is still bad for US business & consumers

Trade was at the bottom among issues concerning 2024 voters. There was no urgency.

Only 6% considered it not important, and other categories are Extremely important 23%, Very important 39%, Somewhat important 33%.
Being "at the bottom" doesn't mean "there was no urgency". "Not important" % is one of the lowest among all issues.

  • Germany tells Apple to remove DeepSeek from the App Store

When you repeat "user data" a million times, it completely loses its original meaning. Most users don’t actually care about data at all. Why should some unelected guy in a suit be the one making decisions for them?

  • Trump's new China trade deal is still bad for US business & consumers

    AppleZulu said:
Trade deficits were nowhere on anyone’s radar during the election that took place only months ago. Nobody voted for this.
While campaigning for his second term as US president, Trump pledged even larger tariffs than his first term, including 60% on China, 100% on Mexico, and 20% on all other countries. He also proposed tariffs to penalize US companies that outsourced manufacturing, such as a 200% tariff on John Deere.

    ....
    - Universal baseline tariffs on most foreign products, which will increase incrementally if other countries manipulate their currency or "otherwise engage in unfair trading practices", and lowering taxes. Revoking China's Most Favored Nation trade status, gradually stopping all Chinese imports of essential goods, stopping American companies from investing in China, and banning federal contracts for any company that outsources to China.
    - Decreasing trade deficits, especially with China.

Every now and then I accidentally visit this site and see the same radicalized opinions.

Trump is carrying out the mandate he received through a popular vote - whether you agree with it or not your opinion doesn't matter. Turn off the screen and go touch grass guys, sky is still blue, grass is green and Trump still not the Emporer.
