  • A practical guide for why spatial audio music is great

For music that wasn’t made with spatial audio in mind, disabling it sounds much better almost all the time. It applies to classical the most but also a lot of electronic music, where spatial audio seems to crush the sound instead of widening it. I really hate it, it’s a big disappointment for me.

  • Apple's iPhone came out 18 years ago and changed the world

The amount of revisionism about how much the iPhone has changed things is increasing more than ever. People who have spent a decade hating on iPhones are now starting to recognize that it is indeed a very good product, but the idea that Apple didn’t really innovate that much with the iPhone is still present.

Even new users who love iPhones often don’t realize how much phones sucked before. Not that anyone has to necessarily know the history of tech, but there is a lot of ignorance about what happened just 15 years ago.

I am thinking of doing a commentary of the iPhone keynote.

I don't think Apple is their risk factor.

I think the fact that people are is interested in VR as they were in 3D television is the risk factor.

The number of people who want this crap in any near future is a rounding error.
That’s a really ignorant take. VR is amazing for many types of videogames for example.
That’s not an ignorant take.  As an overarching interface to the next gen internet it is spot on. Besides Zuckerberg I don’t know of anyone besides Sweeney who thinks this is a good idea.   We’re not talking about dedicated game use — no problem with that.  And we’re not talking vertical market use for specialty needs.  That is all fine.  We’re talking about the idea that people want to interact with each other regularly on the network through VR.   No one is asking for that or cares about it.
Oh yes sorry, I agree completely.

  • India's first Apple Store teased before Tuesday's grand opening

There are slums a few hundred meters from there. Mumbai and India in general are so shitty. I can tell you because I live there. I can send you pictures of the store next week if you like.

  • India's first Apple Store teased before Tuesday's grand opening

Oh I am not criticizing Apple at all here. It’s just that India is growing with gigantic wealth differences, which dwarf what happens in Europe or even in the US. It might become the biggest economy in the world but it will still have huge slums everywhere.

  • Apple needs a reuse plan for 100s of millions of old iPhones: iOSR

Great article, and truly Apple should think about doing what you are proposing. Very small cost for them and huge impact for the environment and developer community.

  • Google to ape Apple's 'Subscriptions 2.0' payout policy without customer retention stipulation

I imagine google as a small child, aimlessly stumbling around the pre-school playground until they see another kid enjoying a toy, then they start throwing a tantrum because all of the sudden they have to have that toy. Hurry Phil, find a shiny object to distract them with so we don't have to hear them whining!

Seriously though, is there an Apple product google hasn't tried to copy? They tried like 6 times with the TV. Oh, and of course they mocked Siri as useless until they saw people enjoying it, now they have entire products built around their version of it. I'd be sad if it wasn't so damn funny.
Because Apple hasn't copied things from Google/Android as well? It's just how it works. Everyone borrows from everyone and it makes everyone more competitive for it.
Sure, Apple has copied some small things, but Google has copied so much more.

I just took back my replacement Note7 today and have the iPhone 7 Plus on order.  I left iPhones 3 years ago, I wanted more screen size, and I've had nearly every Android flagship since then.  I'm looking forward to Apple's vertical integration again and my phone having zero carrier bloat.  I still have my GS7 Edge so it will be fun to live with both.
Shame on you. You don't need to change phones twice a year. Think about the environment!

  • New photos offer detailed glimpse of 'iPhone 7,' including potential 'piano black' model

In the second picture, how can someone honestly say that the phone looks good.
Look at the iPhone 4 and 5 then look at this. Huge plastic bands in a translucent color, protruding camera, lack of harmony between the pieces... this looks awful. Am I the only one to think that?
  • First look: Brooklyn celebrates the grand opening of its first Apple Store

Awful place full of hipsters. I saw that one of the personnel wears a hat. Just like last time I went to a Starbucks in Brooklyn and every single person working there was wearing one. As if they are forced to wear them. Awful.
