False Flag: Social media erupts over Apple's predictive text Palestine blunder
'She then goes on to demand Apple Support and CEO Tim Cook explain "whether this is an intentional act by your company or whether you have no control over rogue programmers."'

Sonos CEO insists iOS app cannot be rolled back to the older, better one
jorjitop said:I have used Sonos speakers for 20 years. Made the switch from Sonos 1 to Sonos 2 with minimal headaches. I have rarely had problems with my system. But, I am afraid that the bad publicity being given by groups like "appleinsider" and "ZDNET" are going to kill the company. It almost sounds like a conspiracy.I can recommend the Sonos system to anyone looking for a good distributed sound system in their home or office. Setup problems are massively exaggerated.
Sonos's wounds are entirely self-inflicted (not for the first time), and furthermore they admit that. -

Siri for iOS 18 to gain massive AI upgrade via Apple's Ajax LLM
The key question is: what will be the device hardware requirements for AI aided services?
For instance my iPhone XS is the oldest that can run the current iOS 17, so it may well not be supported by iOS 18. While my XS still works well — even the original battery! — and does everything I want it to, I may be prodded to upgrade by the availability of useful AI. -

Set-top showdown: Apple TV 4K vs Google TV Streamer compared
Considering how inexpensive both these devices are, would it be too much to expect an actual test rather than this rote spec comparison?
Regarding their aesthetics, the AppleTV is the obvious winner. However I see no reason to put either of them (and their trailing cables) on display, since they’re remote controllable via Bluetooth. My ATV lives and happily works inside a cabinet. -
Asahi Linux M4 support hits a roadblock because of Apple Silicon changes
ajmas said:For server grade applications, many people would chose Linux over MacOS or Windows. Being able to use Mac hardware (new or used) for this would be a nice feature. I just wished Apple would quietly assist the Asahi team, since it would theoretically allow for more hardware sales and a certain goodwill.
ETA: On the other hand, Apple's whole boot security model has become pretty complex and obscure, at least as viewed from the outside. Its inner workings are not designed or intended to be public, and I imagine there's been no line drawn to demarcate what we're allowed to know from what we aren't. The line is more like a circle, with only Apple inside. So maybe the necessary resources to change and police that would not be minimal?
