  • Tim Sweeney compares Epic's App Store fight with Apple to civil rights movement

f**k you Sweeney.  You distort the Civil Rights movement to suit your agenda?  Shame on you.  You're an embarrassment.

I will do nothing to support Epic games.  I hope others follow.  Sweeney is a spoiled man-child and needs to go away.

  • Apple to ask all employees to voluntarily report Covid vaccination status

We had one a-hole coworker here that died a couple weeks ago.  She was anti-vaccine.  Now, I couldn't care less that COVID is thinning the herd of these Darwin-award winners, but the prior week before she died she was at the office, without a care in the world.  Her ignorant, stupid, selfish decision that it was "my body, my choice" affected others in her department.  We had to shut down the entire department she worked in, which was a vital, production department and all the employees had to quarantine because of it.

Your "freedom" to take the vaccine or not stops when your selfish decision affects other people.  I have quite a few fully-vaccinated friends that got hit with the delta-variant and one got hit hard.  It's because of these selfish a-holes that refuse to get vaccinated is why we're still dealing with it.

I hope Apple and other companies fire any able-bodied anti-vaxxer.  Unless you have a bonafide, actual medical reason signed off by an actual, science-based doctor excusing you from the vaccine, consider yourself unemployed.

I'm so fed up with these people.  These anti-vaxxers honestly should pay all the health-care costs of their hospitalization, or be denied hospital treatment altogether.  What an embarrassment.

  • Apple fails bid to shut down refiled Cydia antitrust lawsuit

    Dear Apple:

If it wasn’t for Cydia most things that make the iPhone easy to navigate wouldn’t exist. Apple really has stifled on software innovation but Cydia gave us the things we always wanted and needed for navigation. I hope Cydia wins because Apple would give us more if what we need to make the iPhone easier to use because of this.
Nonsense.  People like you, wannabe developers, will literally make stuff up to further your agenda.  Whiners like you are not Apple's customers.  WE are Apple's customers, not developers, not you.

You want the Wild West, go to Android and be done with it.

  • Samsung is throttling the performance of over 10,000 apps

The way iKnockoff companies like Scamscum get away with this is disgusting.  If this were Apple, guaranteed that the the botomfeeding lawyers, media, and iHaters would be screaming for Tim Cook's head, and clickbait YouTubers would fill the Internet with countless videos on how Apple is a "greedy" company and ripping off users.

Yes! Free the iPhone and more importantly the iPad
Better yet... don't buy an iPhone or iPad.  What's so hard about buying a product that serves your needs instead of forcing a company?

If enough people ditched the iPhone because it wasn't working for them, Apple would take notice and adapt.  Obviously, more people are perfectly happy with the iPhone than the very few vocal whiners.

  • 'Myst' is coming back to iPhone & iPad for 30th anniversary

Sign me up for this.  I was a huge fan of Myst and "Riven" when it first came out 30 years ago.  I even bought the "Myst" books which sucked me into that world even more.  Even though it is considered low-tech, to me it still was one of the most amazing games to this day.  The storyline was so captivating and immersive that one could dismiss the slideshow graphics at the time.

    Looking forward to seeing this!

  • Third ex-Apple engineer charged over Apple Car technology theft

American companies need to place Chinese nationals under the most intense microscope when given jobs that grant access to U.S. tech.  If they have roots in China, they should have their passports immediately taken.  This is ridiculous.  Shame on the judge that allowed this miscreant to take the thief's word that he would not leave the country.  It's an embarrassment.

I hope Wang knows that he is now a wanted man the moment he leaves China.  As big a China is, it will feel like a small country for the rest of his life knowing he can't travel to any country that honors warrants and U.S. extradition laws.

    What a piece of garbage.

  • Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Multimedia Pro Dock: A true 16-port powerhouse

Satechi docks have been nothing but trash over the years in our offices.  Unstable drivers, compatibility issues.  Even if Satechi (maybe) resolved those problem, I will not touch them ever again.

Went with Caldigit and all was well in the village again.

  • Elevation Lab has a gadget that gives an AirTag a ten-year battery life

    SSD1400 said:
4-pack of ElevationLab capsules is $40.  8-pack of Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries is about $33.  So you get about 10-years life for $73.

4-pack of Energizer Lithium CR2032 batteries is about $6.  Lithium CR2032 batteries will probably last in an AirTag for about 3+ years, so you pay about $18 to get a 10ish-year life.

Kinda pricey just to not have to change a battery so often.  Still, I can see a use for these given their "rugged" enclosure and IP rating.  I'll take 4 please.
Most of my AirTags run out of battery within 12-18 months.

    It’s not the same…
Having disassembled quite a few iMacs in my time, it's not that much trouble.  The last iMac I worked on, I was able to completely disassemble it and reassemble it in 45 minutes.

I would seriously consider doing this if I came across a good donor iMac.
