Editorial: How Apple beat Samsung in the 2010 global ARM race
They took the only course available. No, while Intrinsity and Hummingbird might have been off the table, pursuing a course of designing their own successor was available to them, through purchase of another chip designer or starting from scratch, one they eventually attempted with Exynos, though that seems like it might be winding down now as a failed attempt. But who knows where they might be if they had started a few years earlier to found their own design path.

Apple releases iOS 13.1.2, iPadOS 13.1.2, watchOS 6.0.1 updates
The problem isn’t the bugs, the problem is the regressions. Apple has a terrible software development process that constantly results in new releases breaking features that have worked for years.
Any serious software development effort should have as a minimum at not breaking features that aren’t changed, and ideally not breaking things that used to work (e.g. flashlight) even if they have been changed (in this case, to add long press support). Any proper software development would ensure that feature replacement or addition (e.g. adding long touch as an alternative to 3D Touch) would be done in such a way that all clients of the code need no changes to work properly. Apple seems unable to make changes or add features without breaking existing working code, and that is something they should have worked past by now. -

Apple again rumored to drop 3.5mm headphone jack from 'iPhone 7' for Lightning, Bluetooth
The lightning connector has zero support or pins left for analog output and there is now way to add it. It is a high speed serial bus and will always be digital only.
I have literally never plugged anything into the 3.5mm jack in any iPhone (since 2007) and doubt if I'm alone. All those that spend hundreds on headphones and think they are more than a negligible minority are deluded themselves. I would easily bet the majority of Jack users use the included phones from Apple and will continue to do so. -
Apple's 'iPhone 7' to boast True Tone display, upgraded camera flash, capacities of 32-256...
Given the price increase the ipad pro 9.7 made, I wonder with the increase in storage Apple will increase the iPhone price, expecially the upper tiers. -
