  • Tim Cook praises Trump in US tech titan meeting

My reaction and my feelings about Tim Cook and Apple on this issue would only get my comment deleted…

  • If you were underwhelmed by WWDC 2025, you're not alone

For the first time not only am I not having to fight the urge to jump into the betas, but I am actively considering not upgrading macOS and iOS when the public release comes.

iPadOS is a notable exception but there’s so many new features there that I’ll probably wait until there’s confirmation that there aren’t any showstopper bugs in the betas.
Funny, as this is first time in several years that I’m thinking of joining the beta program since I’m so excited about trying the new Liquid Glass design and the interface improvements I saw during the keynote.

  • iOS 18 saw below average adoption despite Apple Intelligence

And I see my comment immediately got a dislike. God forbid I say something bad about AI. Sorry, not a fan of something that has famously been trained on intellectual theft, something that is horribly environmentally damaging. I know Apple has been trying to do things differently when it comes to that, but AI is so unethical on so many levels as we’ve seen it so far. Which is why I have zero qualms with Apple struggling on putting out their AI products. The only good thing that came out of it is we finally have the base level Macs shipping with 16GB of RAM
I really dislike it for all of the same reasons. Thank you for sharing!

  • Brazil gives Apple 90 days to enable third-party app marketplaces on iOS

Side loading is moronic and stupid, and only an idiot would suggest it. I feel sorry that some idiot is attempting to “require” it.
Anybody remember when “side loading” was simply called… you know… “loading”? :D

Before centralized app stores owned by the OS makers was a thing, downloading an application from wherever was simply what everybody did. It is what you can still do on MacOS (and typically we don’t start calling people “idiots” for doing that).

Also, be nice. Calling everybody an idiot doesn’t make you cool. You can disagree while still being nice. You don’t have to. Nobody can force you. Do whatever you want. But… it would be nice to be nice.
Major thumbs up to this response — thank you!!!

  • Apple customers start receiving the iPhone 16e

Today, the board of our company group took the decision that we will leave all American operating systems and computer brands, and move to Linux. Personally, I understand this decision and stand firmly behind it.

After many, many years on this forum, and a loyal Apple customer since the mid-80’s, I therefore say … Goodbye Apple Insider. Yesterday, our love relation ended.
I’ve done the same thing personally. I’ve been on Linux exclusively for the past month. Despite the teething pains and the steep learning curve, I’m glad to be returning to what computing is supposed to be about: personal agency. Apple lost its way and became another personal data harvester obsessed with nickel and diming customers so that it could spend millions currying favour with unsavoury governments.

My next phone will not be iOS-based. If it weren’t still so performant, I’d make the switch now.
