  • Apple will fix iPhone 13 'Unlock with Apple Watch' soon

Glad they acknowledged the issue.  Got my 13 Pro Max going yesterday and immediately noticed that it won't unlock with apple watch.  Get a message that it can't communicate with the watch.

  • Unsurprisingly, a 2020 iPad Pro will bend if you try to break it

Unfortunately publicising this idiot just gets him more clicks and more ad revenue.
Actually I really like this guy and follow him on YouTube. He's not trying to disprove anything or reveal some big secret, he's just showing what the capabilities of the device are.  His teardowns are very informative and give a great insight into the hardware built into devices, I have learned a lot from his videos.

  • iPhone 13 Pro Max supports faster 27W charging, but only temporarily

I just upgraded to the 13 Pro Max and sold my iPhone 11 Pro.  I never thought twice about the battery on my 11 Pro.  I have a Bose sound dock at work and would leave the phone plugged in all day long which would keep the battery at 100%.  Some days I would let the battery run down to 5-10% before charging.  Most of the time would use a mix of my 5 watt charger, my 29 watt charger and a Qi charger depending on where I was and what I had available.  Other times I'd start charging it when it was 90% to top it off.  Basically I followed no rules and charged it randomly with different powered chargers at different times of the day.  When I sold the phone, battery health was 92%.  Don't worry about the battery and just live your life!

  • Apple warns customers about phishing emails, details legitimate communication

My mother-in-law received what appeared to be an email from Apple saying that a $49.99 in-app purchase had been make on her iTunes account.  The email looked completely legit, but luckily she was suspicious and called me and asked me to check it out.  She forwarded the email to me and it was a very good phishing attempt.  No bad english, formatting exactly like an Apple purchase email.  The only give away was hovering over the URL that stated "if you did not make this purchase click here to file a dispute".  The URL was definitely not Apple.  I had her delete the email and rest assured nothing was purchased on her account.  Over the next couple of days this was confirmed by no charge on her credit card.

She was suspicious enough to no just panic and click the link, but I can see lots of people falling for this one.  It was one of the best phishing emails I've ever seen.  Criminals suck!
  • iOS 10 tips: Rich notifications enable tvOS text entry from iPhone's lock screen

So after a bunch of trouble shooting I finally got this to work.

First, you need the Apple TV remote app from the App Store.  Download that and then pair it with your Apple TV.  This took me several attempts to make it finally pair.  I restarted my Apple TV 3 times, and deleted and re-downloaded the app twice.  But they finally hooked up and I could control my Apple TV with my phone (that's pretty cool all on its own).

Go into any search field on the Apple TV. If you're in the Apple TV remote app on your phone, it should automatically take you into a text box where you can start typing and the typing will appear on the Apple TV.  If you're not in the app, you'll get a push notification on your phone that the Apple TV is prompting for a text input.  When I got the notification on my phone when not in the app, it loads up a dialog box that lets you type right there.

Too bad this took so many attempts to finally make work.  But once I got it up and running it's really slick and will make typing a whole lot easier (although before this I was getting pretty good with Siri navigation).  Hope that helps some of you.
