Philbot, I am a believer, but just answer me this one question: HOW ARE YOU CERTAIN?
-
Philbot, shouldn't you have known about this holding back of new PowerMacs? Whether they are G4 or G5??
-
Philbot, do you just "think" all this stuff up? Or do you actually have credible info/sources to back up your evidence? [ 01-23-2002: Message edited by: Tarbash ]

Well, back in June or July I think, Apple employees got HUGE discounts on the top of the line TiBook (then 500 MHz). I believe they got them for about $2500 or $2700. That was in July... the TiBooks didn't get updated until October.

Am I the only one here who thinks we will see absolutely NOTHING tomorrow? Except maybe shipment confirmation of the new iMacs... I think G5s will be here very soon, and it is entirely possible for Apple to have some low cost G4 towers. They're…

Belle, I don't think you realize how huge the new iMac is going to be. Every person I've shown it to thinks it kicks ass and they want one, and they all say how incredible the price/performance is. I've read many stories of people going into Apple s…

Yeah, Intel also said they would have the 64bit Merced CPU out in 1999 too... or was it '98?

I'm pretty sure we'll see the G5 before the year is out...

I kinda doubt that the 8540 is any indication of when the G5 for Apple's PowerMacs will ship. I think Apple has been playing a much bigger role here than we think. Just because Motorola has or hasn't put out some embedded chip that is based on some …

The G5 exists dammit, and it is coming. ACCEPT IT!!!!!

The large order for Sahara's from IBM-> for the next revision iBooks, which will probably have G3s until next Fall.

I guess the same could be said for the PowerBook G4 as well then. Why would Apple put a G4 in it if it can't scale very well?... The fact is that ever since the G4 has been around, it has just been a very difficult chip to scale, but that do…

Ohh it will be.

Yeah, well back in January the 733 G4 tower was the top of the line at $3499. 6 months later it was priced at $1699. Times and technology change, and with G5s on the horizon, G4s will no doubt become less expensive, and 867 MHz will be considered…

Hey that's my quote! Anyway, guess I'll pitch in my 2 cents: iMac: (all standard with 15 inch LCD, FireWire2, USB, Gigabit ethernet, 32 MB GeForce2 MX, Aiport ready) $999 867 MHz G4 128 MB RAM 40 GB CD-RW $1299 1 GHz G4 256 …

Tablet does not = PDA. Tablet could be a full fledged OS X system.

Look, even the majority of Apple employees IN CUPERTINO don't even know what is about to be unveiled by Steve. There is no way an Apple-based Comp USA employee is going to know. These are people who simply love the Mac and are very knowledgable and …

Anyone remember that Apple leak back in '99? "We will begin shipping systems based on the G4 processor in summer of 2000." Hmm... obviously Steve wanted to shock everyone with the PowerMac G4, and he will no doubt want to do the same with the…

:: Steve finds out... instructs the Mac OS team to block any functioning VueScan drivers from the system and make their scanners incompatible with both OS 9 and X::

"733 Mhz G4 133 Mhz Bus 256 MB RAM 60 GB HD 15.1 inch LCD nVidia Geforce 2 MX 16 MB $1299 $1499 with superdrive" Agreed Applenut, but I think the CRT model would probably be the 700 MHz and it would ONLY be available for education at $79…
