Actually, in all the rough emulators that have existed to date, the MacOS has been pretty speedy on x86 hardware. It's much more efficient than Windows, so you don't see the huge speed hit that you get when trying to run VirtualPC on a Mac. -S

[quote]Originally posted by onlooker: I don't even think it (the term PC) is directed toward the x86 platform. I think it's a generalization. Nothing more. Also whoever said "buyout of PPC/G4/G5 so amd could create the chips", or whatever. What…

[quote]Originally posted by DaveGee: I'll only do that if you show me how this idea doesn't cause the current Mac OS (9/X) developers to drop Mac OS (9/X) support. What if X stays the only thing you can run on a Mac, and installation on …

Orange Micro used to make stuff like you're talking about. Didn't work out... why bother when you can spend the extra $850 (or less) on a real PC if you need to run Windows apps that badly?

I already have a 10" in my pocket.

You guys bring up an interesting point that I forgot to mention. What if an announcement coincided with a switchover to AMD-bassed processors in the Apple hardware line, so that technically you could run just about anything you wanted on their mach…

Maybe Steve's gonna be the 2nd billionaire in space. LOL.

Honestly, who cares what comes after the "G"? So few consumer-level applications are Altivec-enabled ... Apple really doesn't need to go to the expense. Not to mention that IBM is closing in on Altivec performance in its PowerPC chips without the …

You're half right.

Don't worry. Really. These specs are vague and to some degree incorrect. -S

I've said it before, I'll say it again...G4 or G5 really doesn't matter, it's how far above 1GHz they get that will impress. I think we will all be surprised, in a good way. -S

[quote]Originally posted by KidRed: Wow, the same thing MacMinute reported earlier today I agree. I also don't buy a 1GHz tops G4 - it's been too long to make that little progress, and the rumblings I've personally heard from inside indica…

Yes, there are already too many threads. And the title comment was in all of them many, many times. This one is redundant and should be done away with, please.....

1) I'm tired of reading this every 5 minutes. Every other post, it seems, is on how iWalk is not registered. 2) There's Apple stuff that isn't registered or wasn't at introduction, believe it or not. 3) It's still fake -S

Uh, Ricoh is a pretty well-established manufacturer of mainstream digital cameras. Ever hear of the silicon valley? Apple's not the only game in town. -S

Site's in English. I'd say the Canadian probably speaks the language. The word "design" (the email @ehlis-design.de) does not bode well for their credibility. I checked the website for that domain - simply lists telephone and email info. - noth…

Apple would not hype this much for a G4 topping out at 1GHz. It would be enough of a letdown without them getting our hopes up. To do so would defy logic. -S

I posted this in the big iWalk thread, but it belongs here too: Possible explanation for the whole "scroll wheel" thing...could be assignable to several different tasks, one of which is screen rotation (he did also have to push a button on the fr…
