I think that it would be nice to have the ability to display a mini info window in the Finder windows. I can definitely see how that would be useful. One alternative, although no seamless, is to keep an Inspector (cmd-opt-i) window open, with so…

Of course CR should test all phones in the same manner, but I haven't seen any legitimate evidence to suggest that CR applied biased testing on the ip4 (although this claim is often repeated). A problem does exist with this iPhone's antenna. Altho…

Based on my first hand experience, I'd say that CR has accurately reported this issue and I fully understand why they would decline to endorse the product. I have owned my ip4 for about three weeks, and can consistently reproduce the signal degrada…

I don't think Apple wants to promote content creation on the iPhone, but I would love it. I have been doing quick a bit of typing in notes/email to make up for no real document creation. It would be great to be able to work on real documents while…

I know this thread is troll bait, but, for those who are interested, here is the patent: http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-...L/unauthorized You will notice that the patent was filed in February of 2009, long before the recent ruling on jail…

I'm not buying this rumor. As a new iPhone owner (almost 2weeks), I would definitely consider returning my phone if a fix to the signal loss issue looked likely. It is persistent enough to be a PITA, and I can only imagine the number of people who…

It seemed that the mention of jailbreaking was largely conjecture on the part of the author. When I read about this patent, it struck me as a security feature that would supplement a password protection scheme. Even now, you have the option to del…

Thanks, I will file in this in the "don't worry about it, unless there is a problem" category.

Thanks for the info. Where do apps generally have the 'quit' option? I found out that you can quit apps by holding them down in multitask view. Is there another way? If I'm reading this correctly, there might not be a need to quit.

I hadn't realized that the APX is now using 'n' spec for wireless. I'm not sure when Apple made the improvement, but I thought I'd mention it.

So many people here (and our "lovely" new visitors) have really gone off the deep end with this thing. Anyhow, my fingers are crossed that Apple announces a fix tomorrow. I'm trying to picture how an Apple Store employee would be able to rel…

Great poll! I was thinking about the same thing. I know the emotions of some members are running high. Please remember that we are working on the honor system here, and resist the temptation to vote if you don't own an iPhone 4. This will be in…

Technical issues aside, I am shocked by the ineptitude with which Apple has handled this damaging PR situation. From Jobs' initial statement about "improper grip" to the open letter blaming a "totally wrong" algorithm, the company has projected an …

My wife and I have been waiting to finally get an iPhone until this release. Right now, that decision is on hold. At the very least, I think Apple has exhibited terrible public relations. Telling consumers that they are holding the phone wron…
