  • If it is a new computer and the drive doesn't really contain anything important, I'd recommend reformatting the driving and installing *just* OS X. If you don't want to do that, I'm pretty sure that you can just get info on the various items, cli…
  • Hopefully a lower end GeForce FX card, but that may be wishful thinking. This does belong in FH, not CH.
  • What part of the machine does it come from?

  • You might want to turn on file sharing at some point...also, you can get a crossover cable from pretty much anywhere, (RadioShack for sure) just make sure it is a crossover cable.
  • As explained by that book? They ripped that off of Apple's Knowledge Base...and I doubt they attributed the source either.
  • You can always just type /usr/local/ into the Go to Folder dialog in the Finder" If you want an alias of the "myApp" folder, just type "usr/local/*tomcat_home*/webapps" in the Go to Folder dialog, and command+option drag the folder to the desktop. …
  • Altivec is right. Your computer performs a test when it is powered on, and apparently it found that no RAM banks are working. I suggest pulling them and reinserting them to see if that will clear it up. If not, do like Altivec says and find a sti…

  • I think what he isn't getting is that the original 1.8GHz on 130nm was a conservative estimate. He probably heard way back, almost a year ago, that IBM would quickly transition to 90nm after the initial launch. What he doesn't know is that 2.0GHz …
  • PPP has always worked fine for me in X. I've only have the never-ending disconnect thing once, under 10.1.x. Otherwise, it has been okay. X likes to stay connected to the internet a whole lot more than 9 does though...
  • More like 130nm...you do know that Fishkill has net to transition to 90nm as of yet, correct? IBM is open about that publicly... All of Apple's current G5 Power Macs feature 130nm parts.
  • You must admit that hasapi's post was a bit confusing. What he means is a chip rated for 1.8GHz downclocked to 1.2GHz with a decrease in core voltage. 19W, not 42W.
  • In the network pref pane on the OS X machine, click the AppleTalk tab in the ethernet port config and ensure it is on. In the AppleTalk control panel on the OS 9 machine, make sure it's on and set to ethernet.

  • After using the Mac for a while, he's probably going to want it to have priority on the internet connection. So see this thread.
