It's a 4200. New iBooks don't even come with 5400s. As far as actually checking the speed, I'm not sure. I looked around to try and find the speed of my drive (I know it's a 7200rpm), but I couldn't actually find it anywhere.

It happens here too. I think it's just sub-par UI. But I don't really know. With Apple's attention to detail, I think thats the least likely of the possibilities. And on another note, get some treatment for that OCD, that should help.
