EOL = End of Life, right? I also just read the MOSR report.... that and the MacBippy report on rebates on Aussie G5s made me think. I spoke this week with my sales rep (i know... I know.. they know less than we do, generally). He doesn't know m…

With hopefully a new Dual coming my way soon, what kind of compromises would I face getting a Samsung/Bateseis/etc display? Do you need an adapter, what? Sorry, I'm coming from a B&W desktop and Albook with an adapter, and an old studio di…

Yesterday I was checking out prices, and there was exactly one G5 desktop on the "Special Deals" page: dual 2.0. Now all three (well single 1.8, not dualie) are there. Don't know if it means anything of course.

I use 192, but VBR, so the average is usually a bit above, 200 or so. I'm pretty happy with that. Some songs, I have gone as high as 320, but I really can't notice the difference.

I have DSL, which is supposed to be slower than cable, but is fast than any Comcast I used to have, or the rest of my family has now. My delay ranges from 1/2 second to 5 seconds (five seconds is prett awful). That seems to be dependent on suns…

My fan used (pre-10.3.2) to come on at 335 K like clockwork. Now it comes on at 333K. 2K = 3.6 F so that is significantly cooler. Temperature doesn't go above 333.9 K. Noise doesn't bother me at all, especially now when I'm next to by B&W …

I listened.... I turned it off. Of course it broke down into a PC vs. Mac debate. I knew it was going downhill when the host asked a PC mag editor why he thought PCs were better.

I got mine yesterday. I actually saw your other post asking about the number of instruments, and I tried to count them quickly for you, but because there are so many, and because of the grouping that GB puts them in, it was non-trivial to determine…

My iLife arrived as of 10:30 AM! $29 EDU purchase. I'm not home, though. This time it shipped from Rancho to Oakland to Rancho to Elk Grove (EG is 5 miles from Rancho). You may remember my Panther went from Rancho to Oakland to Memphis to O…

Yeah, one thing that suprised me when eventually taking a cursory look at Win laptops is the amount of shared memory video on these things. I didn't even know such a thing existed. In fact, it has been hard to find a Win laptop that doesn't use it…
