from what i understand. You would be able to read a DVD data disk. But unable to play DVD movies.

The older tray loading iMac's video cards are unable to decode DVD movies. You would need some sort of hardware decoder along with the combo drive....

i disagree with the 500.00 price point. Selling a Mac at that price makes it seem like you are trying to compete with E-Machines.... ....and that is something i don't want Apple doing. Im 100% positive that Apple could ship a decently spec'…

sonnet will be coming out with a 600Mhz Harmoni for the first generation iMacs in a few months. 399.00 600mhz G3 256k L2 cache (full proc. speed) 1 Firewire port not to shabby. but ill keep my 433mhz G4, 1MB L2 Cache

Ive found that the slowness is a trade-off over all the time ive spent restarting 9. speedy and unstable or stable and pokey. take your pick. i choose stable and pokey

you can run X on a Bondi. I did, and still do, except it has a 433 G4 in it now . It will just be a little slow thats all. Give it all the ram you can and download shadowkill freeware from version tracker. That should help speed things up. als…

I would imagine that they moved it overseas because it can be fab'd cheaper over there. But most importantly, it now free's up that faciality, indicating a possible change over to .13nm or .09nm
