Maybe Clarksdale/Arrandale will make an early appearance in iMac and surprise all of us. These dual core devices with integrated graphics and memory controllers may certainly enable Apple to offer a thinner form factor and lower price points.

Expect a new mini in Jan'10 based on Clarkdale/Arrandale CPU. A recent test shows that the system level power dissipation with this integrated CPU solution is quite low: http://hothardware.com/Articles/Inte...e-CPU-Preview/ The new IGP (IGMA-H…

The new MacBook enclosure design may be based on the design of the iPhone 3G/3GS: more rounded corners, a thin metal "highlight" frame and the same type of black/white plastic that is used for the rear cover of the iPhone. It is probably too soon…

As you pointed out, the TDP for the new Clarksfield chips are 45W and 55W. However, note that the power dissipation at the system level will be actually less than a Core 2 system since you don't have a hot northbridge chip with wide memory buses any…

Given the thickness of the 17" MacBook Pro can be less than 1" thick and still support a 2.8GHz dual core processor (despite the fact that it has a two-piece hinged enclosure and a built in keyboard) I don't see why Apple cannot make an iMac enclosu…

Just installed iTunes 9 on a Mac Pro (early 2008 - quad-core Xeon) running Snow Leopard and it does not work! Basically it hangs forever (not responding). This is my first experience with newly released Apple S/W not running on a relatively new pla…

Does this mean that we are going to see the other "Steve" compete in Dancing with the Stars next season?

Current Mac Pros are a very poor value. I was actually going to buy a Mac Pro as soon as Apple announced the Nehalem models, but I postponed my purchase as the current price/performance point does not make any sense. Apple is asking for 150% premium…

There is a nice little cell next to Madoff's for Cramer?

These prices are not reasonable. 8x2.66GHz should have been $2999. Offering a $3K+ high end machine with 2.26GHz processors in this day and age is shameful. Looks like Intel is upset with Apple and is no longer providing "preferred" pricing on proce…

Given that decent 24" LCD monitors (like the Dell S2409W) are selling for $250, moving more of the iMac models to 24" display size makes sense. The more interesting news would be the pricing. I expect the entry-level 20" iMac to be priced at $999 an…

Does this mean that we will be able to import and convert MPEG2 files without paying the $29.95 tax? A full feature version of TiVO desktop would probably shortly follow....

Does Amazon allow Kindle users to sell electronic copies of books they have read to other kindle users? That is, is there a second-hand market for Kindle ebooks?
