This is the first time that I have heard that iMovie 08 is based on inspiration from a 'staffer's vacation'. I think that's funny - as I look at how __I__ like to take videos. I take 5 minutes here and there, maybe 20 or so on a vacation. SO... I…

I too was waiting/hoping for a iWork/life mention and possibly a release today. But... I think what is now very possible is that (after the Windows Safari 'secret feature') iLife and iWork will both be available on Windows when they are released…

I think the 'mini is a cute machine. But I won't buy one - due to it being a bit under powered. On the other hand, I won't buy a Mac tower due to it's size and noise factor. I had a MDD dual 1Ghz G4 tower and it was loud as everything. I have h…

I agree - there needs to be a way for us to use our existing DVD libraries. Handbrake/VisualHub/Crunch kind of work - but you have to piddle with the more copy protected DVDs. Personally, I would like to see a 100 DVD changer that goes on my eth…

I think it's about 5 years old.

Oh yes, - it's a CRT flat tube from Panasonic. I wish the model number was on the front somewhere so I could maybe download a manual from the internet. I can move the TV out, but the entire entertainment center is probably 200+ lbs and I have to…

I am not sure. I don't think it's got it. I can't find the manual. I'll have to move the whole entertainment center out and "peek under it's tail". Phil

How ?? With an HDMI to DVI and then the Apple DVI to video adapter ???

So that gets back to a DVD jukebox on ethernet concept. Hopefully either Apple or a third party will come up with such a unit. If a unit would handle 100 or so DVDs, then one or two units would cover most situations. Yes, that implies that they s…

In my opinion, both machines are portable - it's just that one is battery powered and one isn't. I went through the same debate over a year ago and settled on a 20" iMac G5 when I saw the iLugger case (www.ilugger.com). In just about 30 seconds I …

I would hope that they wouldn't limit it to iPods - but allow any external drive to be used. I personally would use a big drive (and fast) for that purpose. Apple doesn't need to do the "home on ipod" thing to sell more iPods - they don't have any…

No, it's a flaw. When shining a light on it, you can see it's shadow on the white part behind the clear - it's embedded in the clear plastic on the chin. It's going back to Apple for exchange in 20 minutes... Phil

I looked at the online Apple manual (never did unpack the keyboard, mouse, manual, etc) and it show the IR sensor where the Apple logo is - not 8" away from there. Phil

it could be that. Does anyone know if there's a IR receiver on the chin to the left of the apple (about half way between the apple and the left edge of the imac about 3/4" up from the bottom) ?? Phil

I have never seen a speaker that's about 1/16" across. I thought the speakers were on the bottom anyway - not on the chin. I am waiting (still) for a RMA email from Apple - if I don't get it today so that a new machine can be started, I am going…

It's the wait on ordering another...

I know it's just been a few hours - but this machine is replacing a dying iMac G5 which is shutting down sporadically. I probably would have waited for a new machine for a while, but when the G5 20" started dying. If it was just once or twice a da…

Sorry - no picture - it's already been boxed back up waiting for the RMA from Apple. Hopefully that'll come this afternoon and it'll be over at Fedex within 30 minutes. The size of the "dot" is roughly twice the size of a period here ( . ) - very …

want a flawed iMac ?? Am on hold with AppleCare now - will return for exchange if they can get one back to me ASAP - otherwise will get a refund and get a stock iMac from Apple Store today - but I really don't want to deal with them. We have a…

good point - but after spending $2500, it should be right. Apple's QA people must have been sleeping that day... Phil
