  • Safari 1.3 that came with OS X 10.3.9 is a lot faster. The only thing I wish Safari had is a button for HOME. It would be so much easier to use rather than having to go to history and click home.
  • The iMac is truly a great machine. I have the 17" G5 1.8 GHz unit with 80 GB HD and Superdrive, 512 MB RAM, Bluetooth and Airport. The machine does everything well. I have had experiences with previous iMacs and have been very pleased with them a…
  • That has already been dpne. Firefox is great. Netscape has been banished to the realm of bad dreams.

  • Consider getting a 12" PB and a separate large screen monitor. That way you could have the best of both worlds. You could enjoy the portability of a small screen laptop with the screen size of a standard desktop. The 12" PB is really the best cho…
  • As far as I know, using aftermarket memory would not affect your warranty as memory is considered a user upgrade. I would stick with a quality name brand, though. I would consider Crucial memory. It has a good quality to price ratio.
  • Those pop-ups are the biggest joke ever! By the time you meet all the requirements you could've bought the items.
  • 42% - barely Yankee. I was born and raised and still live in New Jersey!
  • Steve would never survive as CEO of HP. He is used to having his way and he wouldn't get that there.
  • That's why you pay more to have the Power Mac G5...you can upgrade it. The iMac cannot be upgraded beyond the HD, Ram and optical drive.
  • I will agree with everyone that we need more power in laptops. However, where will the juice come from? Most PB these days are lucky if they get 3-3.5 hours from the batteries. What will a G5 chip do? Not only does Apple have to work to cram aa …
  • Seeing the problem is having with the G5's being shoehorned into the iMac, I don't think the G5 is an option for the PB at this point in time. I;m betting Apple will use a faster G4 or even a dual core G4.
  • If ChevalierMalFet is correct, why did Apple discontinue the G4 iMac? They could have just lowered the price. I do see why the mac mini is a separate unit, however. The primary target appears to be those wishing to change to the mac with the leas…
  • If you are going to be doing a lot of travelling, get the PB or an iBook. If the majority of your work will be doone at a desk, consider the mac mini. Another thought comes to mind. Why not get the 12" PB and a separate monitor. That way you can…
  • Consider thr G5 iMac. I ordered my 17" G5 iMac with 512 MB RAM, Bluetooth, Airport Extreme Card, 80 GB HD and AppleCare for a total of just over $2000. I didn't get the B;uetooth KB or Mouse as I already had those. The iMac also comes with a KB a…
  • Appleworks may have seemed a strange entry on my must-have list, but it does everything I want it to. It may be antiquated by today's standards, but I guess I'm antiquated too. I have also used NeoOffice/J and find it useful, but awfully slow to c…
  • I would have to have the following: 1. Appleworks 2. Safari 3. iTunes 4. Photoshop Elements (2 or 3) 5. Quicken 6. Toast Titanium 7. Garageband
  • Get Apple Care now before you forget it. You have up to a year after you purchase the machine to get the Apple Care. Get it - it's worth it.
  • IMO, you would do well with just a stock model of the iMac. You can add your RAM and the APX card at anytime. This would also allow you to get your iMac a lot faster as it would probably be in stock at any Apple Store or other reseller.
  • I presently use an iMac 700 MHz unit with 15" FP, 256 MB RAM and a 40 GB HD. The primary use is surfing the web, emails, and writing a book, which will probably take me a while to complete. I've also used it to do some data base work - cataloging …
  • Perhaps the best thing Apple can do right now is to review their target markets and develop the computers that work in those markets. Stop with all the fancy upgrades that do nothing for the average user. Continue to make the high end units availa…
