Thats the same thing I said about my DOS games... until I realized I don't play them at all anymore.. I just got rid of all of them. Legacy support can be gay sometimes. I'd hope longhorn would kill legacy support for ME and down.

Longhorn will still be legacy. It'll still use a registry model, Longhorn will get rid of DOS and probably some Win95 legacy support. Expect stuff form the 98/ME era to still work.

The reason why the x86 platform is so popular is due to its legacy support. Not everyone buys new systems every 3 years. This is why Intel and AMD will never join the PPC side. Its the same reason Microsoft can't completely redesign their OS, like A…

I've done this with UPS before. Doing a change address is how most credit card fraud is done these days... You'd be surprised how leinent ups is if you have the tracking number, and can verify information.

Dial up services is a joke. AOL's business is declining since more people are moving to high speed. If this did happen, big deal. I haven't met anyone that uses AOL or MSN in a good while.

The vid was low quality only a 10meg wmv file, but the screen says "My Band" which is the name of the song.

I don't forsee packaged CD's dying anytime soon. Thats what they said about vinyl when the compact disc came out, and its still here going strong. Vinyl won't be leaving us until aobut 2015. They still even make cassette tapes. I forsee CD's to last…

I buy on average about 20 records (yes vinyl, fear the analouge goodness) (btw excuse spelling I'm somewhat drunk while writing this) I also pick up about 10 cds a month, mostly used for 7 bucks a pop. Perfect condition, and cheaper then iTunes. …

I thought OEM was NFR (Not for resale). Usually you have to sell a peice of hardware with it form the computer, atleast thats how Microsoft's OEM's are. Is Apple lienent on this?

You can write your own script to do it. With windows, write a batch command using xcopy. On the Mac, I guess you could use a shell script, not really sure how to do this. I've written a half dozen custom backup scripts using the xcopy and cdrecord f…

I'm pretty sure you need a standalone unit from Sirus or XM. If you have an account with XM, I think they web simocast it as well.

Its technically not illegal depending on whether or not you were hired in knowing that you would have to provide your own computer for remote work. If they require you to provide your own computer from the beginning then its legal. Most likely th…

Apple should release a Keynote Viewer for Windows/Linux. That would improve compatiblity a bit, and make Keynote more feasible in the Windows workplace.

Ignore this message.

Does anyone here know anything at all about video game systems? There has been only one instance where a x86 chip has been used and that was the xbox. You are blowing this whole thing up to a big deal. Consoles have always used risc chips for…

For CD-R's Fuji seems to be one of the best. Anything that uses TY for their media is good on the CD-R side

To be honest, the default OSX Print dialogue is pretty shitty. I use common features like odd and even only printing every day. To have to go out of my way to another window, like you would with OSX, seems very un-applelike. I think MS has apple bea…

Laptops for x86 are designed in the mindset of a desktop replacement, not as something you can pull out in a class room and use like an ibook.

I seriously doubt Intel and AMD are pissed, since together they account for roughtly 90% of the computer market with their chips. AMD is starting to do quite well in the enterprise markets with their opertrons. They are hardly pissed. All this…

I find it really funny that half of you seem to think that Eminem is the bad guy for suing, becuase Apple didn't buy the right to use the song. So if I didn't buy the right to use OSX and I use it, is Apple wrong for suing me? It's a prefect…
