I think what you're considering is more appropriate for Apple notebooks, which can lead harder lives well but can do it better with help like a screen protector. As long as you're not reckless with your iMac, don't worry about it.

Nothing except the scratches garnered from everyday use (and I mean almost every day). As it should be.

I do, but the only thing the old Celeron-class machine does these days is sit there.

"I'll buy a new iMac G5 when..." ...When we can part with $1,400 after tax to buy one of them next year. Time to get rid of the old Hewlett-Packard, if the family can see the benefit to having a Mac. Which ain't easy.

For what it is, it doesn't sound horrible. Barebones and far from unique from the outside, but not horrible, at least. The addition of any wireless device on a $600 machine should be lauded, even if it's sold through Walmart. No one else should be w…

Isn't that just an optional "tattoo"? Other pictures at HP show only the familiar white-and-gray iPod, so they don't seem to be messing with what some would call perfection. That said, the idea appears quite gaudy.

Seeing how close we're coming to Paris, probably not. We may be too busy gawking at the real thing shortly to care.

Glorious. Just glorious.

Yeah, that is a Hewlett-Packard being used by Mr. Jobs and Ms. Keys. Thank God I didn't get one of those. And the new iPod doesn't look half-bad. The battery improvements are good to hear, and the added 5 gigabytes for the same $299 don't hurt. I…

There is an application called Temperature Monitor for Macs, but I'm not sure if it was meant for a specific model. It should support your iBook, and it seems to be accurate enough with my iBook G4. Click here when you want to download it from Versi…

Congratulations to the store on passing this landmark number, even if it did happen in the middle of the night.

Maintenance happens, I guess. Edit: my guess seems correct? Nothing seems to have been updated. Good night, folks.

I also have an iBook G4 at 800 megs, but I've always had Temperature Monitor work in degrees Fahrenheit. With some sort of cooling in the room, 100-110F is the norm, 120F is a bit high in this case, but not uncommon. 120F is the norm without AC func…

Indeed. If it weren't so early in the morning, I'd be giddy with excitement. Thanks for the link.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought. The reason I asked was because I was considering a Cowen iAudio M3 for a digital music player. It's a pretty slick unit, but with apparently limited Macintosh support and apparently no support for the AAC…

Existence is referring to his/her thread here. Here. I say go for it. If I were buying a desktop, I'd seriously consider the eMac. And I did, too, but notebooks proved to be useful. If you think your father in law is willing, consider the iBook …

I'm an iBook G4 owner, but I gained respect for the eMac when considering that machine. It's a solid computer, more now than in its earlier revisions. As said before, do get more RAM; the 256 MB given is barely adequate. When you can, upgrade to 512…

Here is C|Net News reporting on Sony's move to end the Clie in the United States and Europe. The article mentions that Sony will continue to offer the PDA line in Japan, where its position is apparently strongest.
