Didn't Sun release Java under the GPL2 license? Also, the runtime engine in Android isn't a pure Java runtime. It is a variant called dex. Oracle can go fuck itself for all I care.

I would go with Mr. Me's suggestion. If you are adamant on running WordPerfect, download Virtual Box from Sun. Install Linux on a virtual machine and use it. It is better than trying to patch things to work on darwin.

OS X is more secure because it is a niche. It is not immune to malware. Whether it suits you or not depends on what you use your computer for. The iLife suite is nice and there are apps suitable for most needs.
