[quote]Originally posted by RazzFazz: Even so, this still doesn't give people too much of a reason for saying "dump the G4, use higher-clocked G3s instead". Bye, RazzFazz Unless you could get away with a 8-way sub-1000$ G3 system!

[quote]Originally posted by Programmer: It could (saturate it)... but the MPX's 850 MB/sec would probably handle the situation in the short term (i.e. next year) just fine. So I guess a G4 with a on-chip memory controller and 266 mhz FSB (DDR)…

Oh, and as for the heatsink - since Apple lags behind as far as clockrates go I could imagine a bit of an overclocked G4 or maybe a POWER chip? But then, I doubt people would be ok with a machine thats _too_ heavy..

I'm not going to debate whether it's real or a fake - but the quicksilver pic at least had the surrounding deleted so Apple couldn not trace it back as easily. Anyway, if that's the "next" design I would definately paint the aluminium drive bay…

I for my part find the aluminium bay doors butt ugly. either all white or all aluminium, but this photo looks more like a hack than a product of industrial designers.

besides, the picture posted is only a cute flashy rendering and no real product.
