  • OS 9 was hand-optimized for RISC / PPC. It's against the rules, nowadays, but it made the finder far faster than OS X. I can manage files faster using my dual 800 G4 in OS 9 than my quad 2600 Mac Pro even 3 years after I've used OS 9.
