hmm...i was under the impression that it took twice the running length, so a 90 minute disc would take 3 hours. can anyone confirm this?

100,000 preorders in a week works out to 1 imac being ordered every 6 seconds. yeaaah, baby.....

i've got the altec lansing ACS66i which is a version made in mac colors. not only were the speakers reasonable (around $70) but they sound great. i'm very pleased with them...especially when i crank up some MP3's.

look at it this way, time with your dell will only make your mac time sweeter.

yeah, but remember too that the new imac doesn't have a CRT..and that's a huge thermal savings...enough to crowd in a G4 and an upgraded graphics chipset.

the question, however, is how far apple will choose to implement it. it could be as simple as a integrated receiver or as inclusive as a new wireless keyboard and mouse. personally, i think a backlit wireless keyboard would be a great feature...

of course, i'm always happy to see more affordable hardware, but it's utterly impractical to compare apple's pricing structure with competitors like gateway or dell. since apple sells fewer machines, they absolutely have to protect their margins. i'…

i do think there's room for middle ground. imagine an imac with it's CPU in a ZIF socket and GPU on a daughtercard. you'd have to buy your hardware upgrades from apple, because they'd be specialized hardware....but the upside is that you'd gaing a g…

personally, i'm hoping that the new powerbook technology makes its way to the imac...namely 800mbit/sec firewire and bluetooth. a GPU upgrade would certainly be welcome as would a 133mhz system bus...

intel has done an excellent job of pushing mhz into the minds of the computer buying public. they've also done an excellent job of taking a tired and cranky architecture and continuing to scale it. RISC vs. CISC has been beaten to death...but one…

i'm thinking about portable multimedia station: 1) it holds addresses & contacts...but it's not a newton. 2) it uses an inkwell pen interface to keep buttons to a minimum 3) it plays MP3's, but is not an ipod 4) it has a larger screen, bu…

of course, new hardware designs would be great, but i'm really hoping to see 2 basic things: 1) an apple web browser with the panache of apple combined with the speed of chimera. bye bye IE 2) an improved version of appleworks that can read an…
