Interesting. It looks like the writing's on the wall. I bet the Carbon Feedback Forum will be quite lively.

About 15 million active OS X users sounds right to me. Apple regularly claims that 40-50% of Mac purchasers at Apple's own retail stores are new to the Mac. But there's little info how many institutions or users drift away from the platform (sur…

It's already possible to mix Carbon and Cocoa APIs, if you're careful, right? Focusing on Cocoa and depreciating (but not breaking) Carbon seems like the next logical step to improve OS X development.

I do think Yellow Box has been maintained at Apple, but it's well under lock and key, bubbling away in an internal Apple lab (sitting right next to the now empty spot of that Dell running OS X for Intel for the past 5 years, no doubt). Jobs may r…

This guy is the very definition of Drinking the Kool-Aid. Ugh. Hello! "some fun new products" is NOT going to pan out to be the introduction for the long-brewing full-length movie streaming/download service. Or, very likely, *anything* much …

And a merry xmas to you too. I see nothing even *vaguely* trollish about the OP's post. Anyway, yeah, OK, a decade is probably overstating it, but I do expect Apple and the Mac software market to be supporting PPC Macs for a good number of ye…

I hope they tone down some of those super-glossy, blue elements in favor for something more minimal and simple -- it looks a bit like an app for early Aqua, circa 10.0 - 10.2. Great to see this amazing app in development, though. Go Google!

It's legal. The only danger is pissing off Apple-authorized retailers.

Had the squeak too, for a period (maddening!). Pressing firmly down on the bottom of the mouse for few seconds did the trick for me. Came back once or twice on occasion but pressed firmly, and it settled down. Hasn't squeaked in a while now. If…

There are actually two sets of shortcuts for navigating tabs, as using the set above will have a different result when used in an active text field in a Safari window. Take a look at the Window menu in Safari for the other "official" set.

Since System 7, IIRC. Maybe even earlier.
