  • I'm not entirely sure if it would work, but using an alias to /Music/iTunes/ for your ~/Music/iTunes/ folder might allow multiple users to use the same database file.
  • 40 Gigabytes-37.22 Gibibytes ~= 35329310 Bytes = 33.69 MiB You are losing about 33 megabytes to formating, maybe less, and the rest is because hard drives are marketed with gigabytes equal to billions of bytes as opposed to sets of 2^30 bytes. (C…
  • This has been discussed here. The product was sold.

  • Actually that's 200 KB/s as Apple Lossless, like most lossless encoding methods, compresses to about half the size of cda. Which means it is 5 MB/min or around 75-125 KB/s. So this actually does take a fair amount of your bandwidth.
  • More likely they are saving the anouncement for WWDC as part of the keynote. Edit: n/m http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2004/jun/23itunes.html
  • I don't know why the letter keeps being marked junk, but a solution to the problem is to create a custom rule for the newsletter. While it isn't as elegant as Mail learning/not being stupid, it should be fairly easy and effective if the letter alwa…
  • Bad idea maybe, but, if we're gonna speculate about an HDTV projector, maybe we can add in the old Apple PVR rumor. A combined PVR/projector might be able to provide Apple an integration edge that others may have difficulty matching. With iApp int…
  • Though Apple is claiming this to be as a song-a-week deal, today the ninth (tenth?) free single was released: "U Lied" by Crea There is a tag next to it on Apple's iTunes page saying next single April 11, so I may just be confused, but it looks l…
  • Could someone post the list of artists. I would like to be able to download these songs, but as I do not receive Apple's emails, I know of no way to find todays free song. Thank you.
  • Personally I am a huge fan of WOXY. I like the selection of music, and am hoping it does not decline once their over-the-air broadcast ends. I also liked KCRW and Secret Agent, they have fun music. I am disappointed that I can't add stations to…
  • Initial sales definitely are not weak. 100,000 sold as preorders according to Apple. http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2004/feb/17ipod.html I suspect it will hit a million this year, but you just can't tell with these things. There is always the …
  • Just because everyone seems to be wondering about the original: You can find a (small copy) of the original on Hardcore4Mac. It doesn't load quickly, as it's 13 MB but it is complete and the original. They also have lots of Apple's other a…
  • There had to be one posted today. 1987 Cherry Garcia anounced Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia announce a new ice cream flavor. Anything better/more relevant?

  • Well MacWorld CreativePro Expo and Conference is a bit over six weeks from now, so that is a possible date for the updates, so if Clive is right this would be the earliest opportunity for them to update the PowerBooks. This lower price WILL rem…
  • Brian Green: The data you are looking for is here. In this document you will find that Apple has sold ~90-170 thousand powerbooks a quarter in the three mentioned quarters. (And over the past three years Apple has averaged less than 100 thou…
  • chic4mac: I think your friend has been reading the Left Behind book series. That or her pastor/priest/cult leader/whatever is "teaching" from it. The series seems pretty interesting, it is a retelling of the "end times" story, and actually …
  • I do not think Apple would use a USB port to connect cameras and download pictures. The main reason I have against this is that USB requires a lot of processing, and though the two chips have excess power, I do not think they had the ability to wor…
  • My main problem with tabs is that I can not figure out how to switch between tabs without using my mouse. It frustrates me to the extent that I just use multiple windows and command tilde. If I could switch between tabs with a simple keyboard sh…
  • If ThinkSecret is right, (big 'if,' huh?) then the *consumer* bottom-of-the-line 800MHz eMac could be priced at $699 - $799 for regular customers, and significantly less to education ($599 - $699) and institutional buyers ($499-$649). These prices…
  • Well if he said that Usama Bin Laden was either in Afghanistan or some other country or that Usama was Dead, then Usama is not alive in international waters, alive not on earth, or alive on land which is not claimed as the territory of any nation.…
