  • Heh, that's a good one. Illustrators often don't pay attention.
  • Cool, thank you guys!
  • That's true, OSX feel much "snappier" during rendering than XP. In XP I often need to go to Task Manager and set priority to Below Normal or even Low if I need to browse internet while rendering. BTW, is there any way to set/change priorities of pro…
  • No programs in both cases. XP is fresh, clean installed, so no additional background processes. OSX is not so fresh, but again, no running applications except Modo and I don't use any kernel extensions or hacks or whatever they called. About how…
  • Of course it's not 100% the same. API calls are different, but you won't expect too much such calls during 3D rendering. Probably just memory allocations and multi-threading management. Apparently that's what makes difference. Luxology (producer) cl…

  • HC1 have both mic input and manual focus ring.
  • Yes, HDV already widely suppored and AVCHD is very new. AVCDH sounds like more advanced, (higher compression and better quality) but seems like it can only be stored on hard drives or flash which is good, you can quickly copy it to computer. On the …
  • Yes, it will. You can export project to iDVD and it'll resize picture to DVD frame size, preserving 16:9 ratio and stuff. Maybe speed and encoding quality is not as good as in Pro applications, but for this purpose (kids, family) it's very good. Bes…
  • I myself have HD, keep all tapes I recorded, edit it in HD and and make DVDs out of it (with DVD quality of course). Later when BlueRay and/or HD-DVD will be more affordable I can export my projects in HD.
  • The only way you can watch your HD footage on TV is from camcorder. You can import your video to computer, edit it, export your movie back to camcorder and then hook it up to TV and watch.
  • Jeez, zune site is brown too... www.zune.net
  • Nope. I'm sure that installer is single threaded, so...
  • I read somewhere that some of Mac Pros have wrong wires connected to Bluetooth and Airport card. Apparently those that connected to BT should go to Airport and vise versa. I think I saw report about it on Mac OS X hints. Guy was compailing about cra…
  • I wonder if new GL will have antialiasing already. And means to turn it on/off globally, app-independently, like in windows drivers. Same card in Windows (run on MacPro) show nice smooth AA, and in OS X it's all jagged like hell. There is a way to f…
  • It's not that easy. Inner parts of different Operating Systems are very different and they will need some kind of "wrappers" aroud EFI anyways. So I don't think you will be able to put any new EFI-card into Mac. OS will need some intermediate layer …
  • 50 minutes ago I put Mac Pro rendering picture in Modo. All four cores are 100% loaded for almost an hour - and no noice. Not even slightly louder. Just nothing.
  • I might be deaf, but my Mac Pro is barely louder than Mac Mini (PPC). One thing I hear from it is hard drive's heads. I head more noice from outside and people living next door.
  • My PowerBook G4 is not HD-ready and Mac Mini (G4) too, that's why I missed this option. Wonder if any PPC Mac is compatible with this. And Mac Pro is already compatible. It's interesting what makes it HD-ready? I think they used "HD" as common te…
