Unfortunately, I had checked all of those beforehand... still no email alerts. I might see about reseting the iCal settings and going from there. Nobody else seems to have this problem, so it must be specific to my machine. Thanks, Mike.

That resolution doesn't seem to bother the multitude of VCD viewers out there...

According to an article on digg.com, Firewire works but a cable is simply not included. Anybody back that up?

Rumours are still abound about PowerBook and PowerMac updates in the next few weeks...

I've never encountered a more unhappy bunch than the average Apple loving forum participant... seems nothing makes them happy.

You can probably thank the Canadian networks that own the rights to the US shows (like Global, CTV, etc). Not sure if we'll ever be able to get them in Canada, unless we get cooperation from these folk.

Try this Google search: http://www.google.com/search?q=exter...tebook+battery There are a bunch of companies making these. They're not cheap (especially if you're planning on using it just once).

The Mini seems like the logical choice, however with it's slow hard drive, the faster CPU/bus is severely choked. I think I'd probably upgrade the Sawtooth instead, if you can do it affordably.

Formac had a bad reputation for an abysmal return policy. Don't know if that's changed, but you're right, they are not mentioned too much anymore.

Any chance of getting a replacement for a barely out of warranty iBook? My iBook was out of warranty at the end of August and I have about 10 keys that are very worn. Failing that, what is the Apple price on a replacement keyboard?

Either Windows or OS X, I still cannot figure why the average desktop computer needs to be 64-bit. There has been endless bitching (not from you but on the forums) about the lack of drivers for Windows XP 64-bit for no good reason. Use the 32-bi…

I wouldn't be leaving the backlight on for extended periods. It's not meant for that and will eventually burn out (although I don't know what sort of lifespan it has)

Just buy it from Apple or your local Mac reseller... eBay ain't worth the hassle.

Wait for the next Dell 20" deal... that's what I'm going to do. These things were going for less than $400 shipped recently.

Minor update... I still trying to reverse engineer the binary library file format. I am not an experienced Cocoa programmer so it's been slow going. I haven't given up, but I haven't made much progress either.
