cell is a powerpc. it need a brand new mainboard (that need a new kext) but ic can now run os x from 10.0. to 10.4. but it run like a g3 @ 4GHz. to use the vector unit apple must made the dirt work and make it accessible to developer like an altive…

qt for win is anothr story, it need for support qt codec and itunes. every framework can run on older sistem, but apple want you to buy a new os or, better, a new mac. os 9 users are not apple user

it could run in 10.0 too, but there is no way apple introduce it in another application. motion 2 will have external link to corevideo and will be for tiger or better only, like all application core video/image based

corevideo is for tiger only. qt 7 will also use coreaudio and multichannel audio natively. and will be accesible from cocoa only. the goal of apple is make application shift on cocoa.

qt for win is a different ting, is not a sistem api. qt 7 for os 9 will never be. qt 6 was the old qt4 with some new codec that require a new license fee for qt pro. qt 7 is not only cocoa, but is built on core video. maybe h264 will be used in a …

probably apple will introduce plug in for qt 6 for support new codec. but the integration of qt 7 in the cocoa framework is a fact of corse apple make tecnologies appare in application an then make it sistem-avaible, bat is a one way implementati…

qt 7 will be cocoa and connected directly to core audio and will use core video so will be avaible only for tiger, and i think tiger will be avaible in june at wwdc all in my opinion of course

it seem that the best video card you can buy is radeon 9800 128 MB http://apps.ati.com/ATIcompare/result.asp actually is a very powerful card, with tiger will be life, expecially with 2D grafic application that will use coreimage

just to compete my post: only with panter your mac will be faster, but with the upgrade that i have suggested will be a pleasure to use. in tiger things will go simply better, so i belive you can use without problems for at least 3 or 4 years

so, my ideas: 1. better graphics: at least radeon 9600 with more vram it can 2. lot of ram: the more you can afford 3. serial ata controller and Hard Disk 4. an audio card with midi and open al acceleration 5. if you want a new superdrive (pion…

this is a very interesting question. with the introduction of the 3 console ppc ibm based in 2006 we can expect that they will be g6 based and so an introduction of g6 on second half of 2005 on mac. at least in my opinion

in my opinion a 40" is too big. is huge also a 30", thinking that is on the desk, 30 cm distance from me. wath shoul apple (and other vendors) do in make density higer, something like 30 ppi monitor. in most case is the resolution of a inkjet printe…

i belive that you can make another installation and choose to upgrade and install only the components you need

on software side, allume, so they can integrate stuff it x code in the os directly and make it avaible for developer for free
-
on hardware side, 3d labs, so they can have pro gpu for less
-
I really hope that next powermac are dual 970MP!!
-
yeah, this is very much interesting. expecially if consider that coreimage can "feel" what is faster, gpu or cpu and use it. more interest is the APUs, if they are altivec (or exended) with the auto-vectorization of gcc4 (the tiger compiler) we can…

in my idea, is not a clone. think mac os X like a daewin distribution: it has an open base plus closed high level api. so, sony can make anothe darwin distribution with same base (darwin) but with prprietary api. the only tecnologi thet need licen…

very interesting post, expecially for the sacd thing. and if sony will start make cell based pc (not workstation only)? remember that cell is ppc, so they can use the most optimized open unix on market: darwin. And consider that is well supported w…
