Well, most wireless routers have 4 ethernet ports in back, so you could run wires from one of those like you are proposing. In time, you could always add wireless cards to your machines, should you ever wish to do so. Otherwise, no, I don't see any …

Well, "all the way" is the key in my statement above. Sure, we have good choices now, but there are still some features on websites that don't work properly unless you're on IE. Yahoo mail has some quirks, and maps.google.com isn't 100% (though both…

Yes, Macs should be fully compatible with all routers. Routers are basically really simple computers. They have an operating system of sorts, with the ability to be customized via the internal firmware. The routers only purpose is to control the net…

I agree. IE6 is terrible at web standards. Nothing worse than making a tableless-CSS website that looks good in FF and SF but totally wrong in IE. If MS brings IE7 back into full compliance, then they will lose a big battle in the browser war, as pe…

From what I've read about WV, I think it will be a much needed improvement. MS is finally using *nix security features, like password protection for critical settings. The look of the beta seems pretty nice too, but who knows what MS will do to it b…

The distance is direct lines. Think of it as a sphere 100' across (50' in all directions from the base). I connect to my wireless router, and it's definitely 50' to walk to it, but it's more like 25' through the wall. I have an Airport express ba…

Well, I bought my Dual G5 a week before the announcement, so it might be a while before any changes occur. If I had to chose, I'd have to wait and see if the Intel systems have DRM, and if so, how annoying the technology is. It's not that I'm doi…

Intel is also supposedly building a FAB in Israel. Strange, since cpus keep getting smaller. I wonder if they will close some of their older FABs rather than retool them.

I've had my iBook misreport a full battery before. It kept claiming 97%, but eventually it started saying 99% again. My guess is that it will come back around to 99% without you needing to do anything at all.

At least I said why I prefer SP2. Your only advice is to avoid it like the plague. Anyway, I said it earlier: "To each his own." You use SP1, I'll use SP2. Fair enough?

My powermac is refurbed. Got it for a great deal. I have no complaints about it. It arrived like it was brand new, with all CDs, manuals, and new mouse and keyboard. Came quickly, and without a scratch.

I know that I can get all of those patches without SP2, but that's a major pain. Also, MS has a habit of offering updates for machines with the latest service pack installed. It's hard enough for them to stay in front of vulnerabilities, so I would…

Maybe the monitor's ports are defective? Have you tried using them when connected to another machine?
-
lol I don't think I would go without SP2. It includes a large amount of security fixes. Besides, it's not even my machine to manipulate. I merely set up it's wireless interface.

Sorry for the fuzzy image! http://www.clan4u2.com/sq/pmac.jpg Pretty basic setup. Specs are as you see in my sig. The monitor is a 17" Widescreen Sony monitor/TV tuner combo. Speakers by Creative.

Have you tried each USB port on your Pbook? Sometimes one port is better than another, especially when connecting to hubs.

Yeah, DVI on Macs works the same as on any PC.

Quote: My experience has been the opposite. I can connect to wifi point (even AE) faster with my XP notebook that with 15'' and 17'' TI books with Extereme card. That's odd. 10.4 connects to my wireless router in a matter of 2-3 seconds. When I …

Yeah, Tiger is the fastest OS when it comes to connecting to a wireless network. Windows XP still has a long way to go, IMO, especially when it comes to using a secure network.

Are you making a PHP website? If so, you need to enable PHP hosting in apache to view those pages correctly.
