There is one important point to this question of whether Apple should buy Adobe. It is this - Apple needs to get to the point where it can never be held hostage by another company because that other company controls and dominates a major software m…

Phil, I think you have a very interesting idea of combining iDVD with IMovie. iMovie finally organizes and tracts all your movie clips and also edited projects. It makes sense to then group projects together and export/share them by DVD. I…

This may sound really out there, but I wish Apple would make a PC version of iWork also, and then give both the Mac version and PC version away for free. Why free? Because it would make a serious dent in how many people buy MS Office. In fact, wh…

Wow, do I LOVE that new wireless keyboard. For anybody who has read my past rants on other threads know that this new keyboard is close to what I wanted. I still don't like two tone and the lack of backlit keys but I still am pretty happy. I stil…

If this is an Apple keyboard, it is only a prototype to test the keys but not the looks. My biggest complaint about this keyboard - and most keyboards - is the keypad to the right. With good ergonomics, that is where the mouse should be for ri…

No, I don't think Ireland is Steve Jobs. I don't always agree with him in every detail but still respect him as being one of the smarter guys on the forums. He is the type of guy I would like to see working at Apple.

My vote is for BR-DVD instead of just a DVD. Maybe Apple should offer three versions - one the way it is now, one with a DVD player, and one with a BR-DVD. Then people can jump in at the level they want. Shouldn't be too hard for Apple to do.

The big question is that of quality of video. TV and movie downloads barely work in Standard Definition if you have good broadband. That is why it makes sense to buy a physical BR-DVD or HD-DVD disc for the near future. A physical disc offers a s…

I like the iPhone inspired new iMac. Good job Fagin. I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see that the new iMac looks exactly like your mock-up -- with a black stand of course. As a matter of fact, Apple is going to be hard pressed to do something …

Ireland, I am right with you on this one. I think this is the next step for Apple - or at least it should be. What I don't get is why so many people don't agree with you. BR-DVD and HD-DVD hold about 20+ GB of audio and video data. There is no …

Apple's iPhoto books are pretty good but I sure would like more flexibility. Aperture does a better job but again I also want something more text focused, thus the Pages option. I too think it would be great scrapbooks.

I am amazed at all the people who are complaining about the past Apple keyboards. Not that people don't like them but the reasons why they don't like them. My biggest complaint is the number pad to the right. It forces me to put my mouse way to t…

Project2501, I also agree with you that designing, hosting, and maintaining websites are not exactly a walk in the park. I guess I just think the average Joe is capable of quite a lot with the right tools and documentation. Just as early automob…

You're right. I meant Dr. Suess. You'd think as a father of 10 kids I'd get this right! I also looked over the Lulu site and there is much to like. However, I don't know about the legal contract stuff. I don't want to get entangled with who t…

Project2501, I disagree. For example, a store and a forum are two common website parts nomally left only to pros. This does not have to be. In all the websites I've visited over the years, they all have the same needs. I think iWeb could incl…

Good points. I too want to see what Apple will do with zfs. I also agree about the local user metadata and parental access control. Simplicity is the key to the home network system, media data management, and entertainment system. Even the OS …

I've written this on the forums before but don't know how many people read it. iTunes and iPhoto are different ways to view and manage certain data a lot better then one can manage this data in Finder. Currently Tiger has the Pictures, Documents, …

Just as iPhoto and iTunes put a new "Finder" interface on managing their files yet still keep the files organized underneath in traditional folders and files, this is what needs to be done for each class of data. One could still see the files under…

I agree that Quicklook is a step in that direction and that what I propose is not that different from what we already have. The big difference is what the user sees and knows. One can still keep multiple windows open and multitask no problem. The…

There is no need to sue if the canary trap worked. Apple would find out the source of the leak and plug it fast with a pink slip. However, it did put a scare into the rumor sites and stopped the flow of imformation at least some. Anybody noti…
