I have a WRT54G (non-v4) and it works fine, easy to set up too. If you find the reception lacking, you can always buy an antenna.

Have you tried Firefox? Most/all the features you mention are included and there are tons of themes and plugins and extensions that you can get to go along with it.

Something I just realized: In Windows, if you cut an item, and then cut another different one, the original just goes right bnack to where it came from; I suppose that's to prevent accidential deletions.
