I like the upgrade idea.

I think Hodgman will play both characters now. That would have real impact.

Haven't used it, but the Opera browser has bittorrent built in, I think. Welcome to the Mac-- I've noticed you have several simultaneous posts. You can put them into one if they're all about advice-seeking...

True about the antivirus. That, of course, doesn't mean you should feel compelled to install any old software you run into. Programs have to be given approval to install on Macs, so don't be careless and all will be well without antivirus.

That's a kernel panic. It can be caused for a number of reasons, but it's often due to bad RAM, or badly-seated RAM. You may have accidentally loosened something when installing the hard drive? First check if the RAM is securely in place. If s…

Pay. It's self-inflicted damage.

Not sure if it's relevant, but some computers need a firmware update to install Tiger, I think... Something to check, maybe.

I think you need a power adapter to charge with USB to plug into an outlet-- if I remember, 3G ipods were still firewire based, before USB2 took off.

I'm hoping that processors get so fast that the processing power necessary to make computers more voice interactive in a natural way is coming. Keyboards are great, but it's an old paradigm. And I hate typuing. (see!)

Not sure that there's much out there. You can download extra smileys for iChat and drag and drop them into your emails if you want.

You're going to have to restore it. Lesson learned?

Just top add one point-- anything new takes a little time to get used to. Part of the process is deprogramming yourself from Windows. What's fun about Macs is they often do exactly as you think they should to accomplish a task. That can be a shoc…

Roxio's Toast work, too. It's good cd burning software for the Mac.

I'm pretty sure any 2.5" SATA drive will work.

Just had two people today tell me they're getting Macbooks soon. Honestly, I have no idea who these people are, but they know that I'm an avid Apple user. Cool stuff! 10% here we come.

SMART status failures mean the hard drive is going to die. It's trying to warn you, so that you don't lose all your data. Back up right away! Unfortunately, some drives just fail early, some seem to last forever. If you end up replacing the …
