I think the big question is where does Apple get this content to begin with? Are the people doing the encoding just ripping DVD's or are they coming from higher quality masters?
-
I agree, it probably is a financial choice though. I personally like the green and would love to see it in the $150 model. But when it gets to $200 it's not much more to just leap to a 30gig which is what I have now.

Well if it doesn't have it, it doesn't have it. Just so long as it supports the 640x480 content they have now I'm totally cool. And the addition of the drive-by letters is nice. So in other words any addition is nice.

What the heck are all you people complaining about? What you are looking at is the video iPod, isn't that apparent now. Just because there were some rumors and mockups of full screen ipods doesn't mean Apple was ever going to make them. Seriousl…

I would be all over a rental service as well, but I can't see myself buying at those prices. Not with DVD prices being what they are. Hopefully a rental service will be added soon.

Also does this mean the s-video output on the apple dock will output better quality now like s-video is supposed to?

I have mixed feeling about it. On one hand I wanted to see a new widescreen ipod with touch screen and everything. But on the other I'm happy that my 5G iPod is still current, so long as it plays the new 640x480 content from the iTS, which it sounds…

I've noticed the same things about Tube HDTV's. They don't have the same bright crisp picture the LCD's have. But their HD picture is very good. If none of us had ever seen an LCD, or there wasn't one sitting next to the HD tube at the electronics s…

I don't like the movie prices of this rumor. $15 is high enough and should include an old ipod version or let you downrez to an old ipod for free using iTunes or whatever. It shouldn't be extra. Most people are complaining $15 is too high for a do…

Yes it will definitely be put in an iMac, because we all just know this. Is it worth buying one now? Come on. Of course it is. Hold out forever why don't you. There is always something better to come.

It's all a numbers game. On the mac side you've got a small percentage of people buying macs which have very little threat of virii and quality componants all preassembled and tested to work together for sure with an OS built for them. On th…

Sure I agree to an extent. Though I think both will probably co-exist together. There are things you just can't do on that small of a screen. But I defintiely think there is a shift in computing. Rather then just the desktop we are seeing computers …

Look at the other patent thread, it's pretty clear the iPod will probably become the iPhone and vice versa and so on. One big screen with software based interfaces(buttons). Basically right now Apple is noticing that there is a certain crowd tha…

How long has this design been around now, 2 or 3 years? Seems like Apple is going to hold onto it for a while.

That would be better then a "true" video ipod IMO. So long as it's not more expensive. Or at least too much more expensive. I can totally see Apple doing this though. The full size iPod will become a swiss army knife (pretty much already has) and th…

I've heard before that you can (at least in the days of the Pentium M) multiple the clock speed by 1.7 to see what it pretty much equals in the old Mhz mentality. I don't know how true that is or not. But if you apply that logic to say a 2Ghz Core D…
