Count me in as someone who thinks it'll be $1099. I think at $999, it would kill the $799 mini, esp if the rumors of it being all Core Duo are correct. It would be great if they did make a $799 notebook for the education market, but I don't thin…

I really don't see apple doing a $799 macbook with the same specs as the $599 mini. It would be great if Apple did this for the education market, but I doubt it.

Conroe would be more for the iMac.

It's not going to happen. Especially on the weekend. I really believe that they intended to release something on the 4th, but it's been delayed/cancelled. Probally the video ipod. The macbooks are probally coming in the middle of April. Quad C…

I think it's been delayed because Jobs is going to India. I also think they are waiting to see what happens with the Apple Corps lawsuit. Mabye they will settle and we will see Beatles songs on iTunes? In more lawsuit fun, we won't see the video …

Most blu-ray and hd-dvd movies will be in 1080p.

September sounds good for the PowerMac. They could bump the Power..er.. MacBook Pro to Merom at the same time.

The PS3 is using Cell, but I haven't seen anything that suggests the 360 or the Revolution is using it.
-
That's not true. The 360 can stream video and audio from windows media center. They also have the Xbox live marketplace, where you could buy content as well. Of course they have that little problem that they have nothing to sell you, but the infrast…

At the same time, I don't think they will wait until MWSF 2007 to release the PowerMacs. I haven't seen anything that suggests Woodcrest is delayed; it's still on for Q3/June. It'd be something like: 2x2.5/2x2.7/4x3.
-
Probally when Woodcrest (Xeon 51xx) lauches in Q3 (June?). Apple has to use Xeon to get two physical processors (4 cores). Aparently it's going to launch at a top speed of 3 Ghz. There's talk that Intel is trying to get Clovertown (2 Woodcrests o…

Quote: Originally posted by tubgirl no can do, sir! the sockets look the same, but the pinout is different and you need a 945pm/gm/gt chipset to use yonahs so dothan cpus are not compatible. (and then it's the whole lacking of feature set and…

Who knows. The Core Solo/Duo shares the same socket with the Celeron D/M and the Pentium M Dothan, so there are cheap enough processors to get the price down to $499. They chose not to. The mini really isn't low end anymore, but $799 for a dual p…

The Core Solo is hogging up all of the money. Apple went from a ~$40 chip to a ~$160 chip.
-
See this link:http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=801 The Celeron M 420 is probally more realistic for a $499 machine.
-
It could be a real preproduction image, but not an Apple product. See: http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/23/a...ortable-media/

I can't imagine the mini would get a Core Solo - it would almost have to be a Celeron D.
-
Yeah, that article is from October 2004.
-
Really. I am still sure a pvr won't happen - although I could see the mini get some sort of video store integration. Apple seems to be willing to let others sell iTunes phones, which makes me think they won't do it themselves. A wi-fi cell phone…
