Glad you covered this project, it mostly got missed by the Apple news ecosystem. Hopefully the early adopters of these Mac Studio storage upgrades will find that it does work well, some of the skeptics can be reassured, and the Mac Mini version they…

Great review, Mike, as usual!

Pretty funny how you all want to keep arguing over a hypothetical “OWC” drive, when there is in fact another company that is actually offering storage upgrades for sale right now. For the Mac Studio currently, for the Mini in the near future. Who …

For those interested in Mac Mini M4 storage upgrades, keep an eye on this French company PolySoft Services. The internal flash modules are upgradeable in theory, however in practice they are not readily available on the market. PolySoft currentl…

Yes, it will be upgradeable, just like the Mac Studio storage is upgradeable now. There is currently a Kickstarter campaign with 2 days left for 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB storage upgrades for M1 and M2 Mac Studios. The 2TB module can upgrade an existing 2…

On the theme of nostalgia, it reminds me fondly of the Palm Pixi or Pre, those phones sparked my curiosity back in the day, although I never owned one. (I might be less nostalgic if I did, lol) I wonder if this idea could work as a bluetooth access…

What was the name of this session, is a recording of it available anywhere? In the Developer app or elsewhere?

I think it would be more accurate to say "Any M-series Mac or iPad" as all iPads and iPhones 4+ have always used Apple Silicon, but of the A-series variety.

I enjoy reading your reviews like this one, refreshingly distinct from the Apple-commentator-echo chamber. Nice to see an evaluation of its merits for the product it's trying to be, rather than complaints that it's not a different product altogether.

Update: Delta emulator is now available on Apple’s App Store! https://apps.apple.com/us/app/delta-game-emulator/id1048524688 The developer’s AltStore is also live today in EU featuring the Delta app.

Nice. Looks like the bus-powered offspring of their ThunderBlade enclosure design. I have their previous fastest space grey Envoy Pro FX TB3/USB3 enclosure, and the photo Respite posted shows this new Express 1M2 should be an upgrade in terms of c…

I agree, the 13" Macbook Pro with M2 will be replaced by a 14" Macbook Pro with M3. In April, Mark Gurman reported on a new Mac15,3 model found in developer logs running Sonoma (then-unreleased) with the 14" screen resolution but a CPU configurati…

A use case for this that I’ve encountered is wired game controllers. For the least amount of controller lag one might want a game controller that plugs in rather than a wireless bluetooth connection. All iPhone compatible game controller grips such …

hmm since this is an Apple site, how well does this keyboard work on an Apple computer in MacOS? is it possible to program the G# keys at all? does the volume control knob work? do the meta keys work as a standard Apple keyboard or do you have to ma…

Again, for the thousandth time, Macs don’t have USB 3.2 Gen-2 “2x2” ports. If an SSD advertises 2,000MBps / 20Gbps speeds because it has a USB 3.2 Gen-2 2x2 port, that number is meaningless for Macs and most PCs that don’t have a special USB 3.2 Gen…

interesting, but I’m pretty sure Apple TV+ already has many films that would qualify for Oscar consideration under these new rules. they have been among the most theatrical-release-friendly of all the streamers.

I agree with the analysis that this was "the best they could do" this year, and they needed to keep the Apple Silicon transition rolling. Definitely it's a disappointment compared to how impressive the 2019 one was in its time. (Still, was criticize…
