I'm almost positive you can make a disc image using toast or Disc Copy (/Applications/Utilities) of the DVD you burned in iDVD, then using that image as a master to burn others with your external 2X, I don't think Copy Protection will be a problem.

I think the installer really prefers having an AirPort card in the machine its being installed on... I plopped in my AirPort card from my iBook into the G4 and ran the 3.1 Installer, everything is cool now... Thanks for the help everyone !!!
