isnt not just the kernal that hampers performance.. The finder is pretty broken, and some operations involving the finder and/or network take much longer than they should, and cause unnecessary beachballing. Then we have UI issues with the finder …

the kernal in os X is ok at the moment for most if not all things that professional mac users want to do - which is the workstation class apps like cs2, Logic, FCP etc etc.. Yes server performance is crippled by bottlenecking but it is also being i…

-add saft to safari. (shiia is also quite nice) -iphotobrowser automator script kicks ass (see www.macosxhints.com) -use the provided folder structure.. this mainly means actually using the documents folder. -use metadata!

run it on 512 until you cannot bear it, rather than go for the 1 gig, then go straight to 2 gig and notice the difference

I can't think of any reason for running vista on a mac mini, other than to demonstrate that it works

I cannot think of any reason why itunes would do this... firstly have you tried rebooting? Also you might want to try deleting itunes' preference file.

so is jobs admitting that apple no longer focuses on their workstation class machines? I always said that it's the old mac-based professionals who have got it worst in the last few years with apple, who seem to be all about the consumer market thes…

what size/type of monitor is it. It won't show anything if your ibooks display is configured to a setting which the external monitor cannot display.
-
tbh vista probably will be inferior to XP SP2 until 2008
-
I'd recommend you keep the monitor..unless you don't have space for it.. without the monitor I'd say you could get $750-850 conservative estimate... Including the monitor won't add much to its value, and a second screen would be really handy imho

could be bad RAM?
-
comparing the car industry to the computer industry is a bad comparison
-
two button mice on a trackpad is pretty culmsy to use imho, as it requires you to move your thumb in order to select which button to click.. Two finger click is more like right clicking on a regular mouse
-
imho they will offer powermacs until most pro software has gone universal
-
thats ridiculous

hmm I have to admit it looks like you were right.. in which case I am very confused by this as well.. I guess we can just buy 3rd party ram
