The vast majority of internet users still use dial-up. A product that didn't have one standard wouldn't sell half as well.

A major factor in my choice of a 12" was portability. I know that a 15" isn't that much heavier, and the weight isn't something I care quite so much about (as long as it's under six pounds or so, I'm fine). However, 12" fits nicely into my backpack …

He may also suspect you're selling his recently-stolen computer.

My iBook comes with me to every class, every day. It's so much nicer than a desktop, which I used for my first five semesters of college. I take all my notes on it, and it's nice to have my files with me everywhere. Just yesterday, I used it to c…

2007? That's three years... It's probably still going to be white, with a 12" screen, and an 800 MHz G4. Ask me about 2008.

Just because Bush wears Jesus on his sleeve, doesn't mean he's moral. And even if you think he's moral, you can't argue he's ethical. Morals and ethics aren't the same thing. And politics is full of ****ing morals, and a complete lack of ethics. …

Oh, and by the way, in case you're thinking about a laptop. For audio work, you WILL need an external hard drive. No question. The laptop drives just aren't fast enough. You can't even BTO the 5400 RPM drive on the 12", if that's what you're looking…

By the way, if you ever ask this forum for advice, they'll tell you that you NEED a SuperDrive and at least 8 gigs of RAM.

Yeah, I was annoyed with it when I first got it. It may be the springs, though- I've noticed that mine doesn't do it as bad as it did when I first got it. Now it will actually stay flush if I push it down.

Yeah, it's not supposed to do that. Call Apple.

I'm pretty happy with 640 MB right now. I'll probably take it to 1.1 gigs sometime in the future. I doubt that upgrading to a gig would be that helpful to you at this point. I've been wrong in the past, though.

I don't use any software I'm not willing to pay for, and any software I use, I want to pay for so it will continue to be produced. I didn't pay for my copy of Sibelius 1.4, but I didn't steal it from Sibelius, I simply took the extra copy lying …

Well, I know that the TI-89 is an absolute bitch to use, at least for me. I used a TI-83+ all through high school and my one math class in college (done with math now, yay!), always liked it, and never found it lacking in functions. I liked that I c…

I went from Color Classic in 1993, to a Centris 650 in 1995, to an iMac 333 in 1999, to a iBook G4 in the last week of 2003. I average about four years between Macs, I guess.

In my opinion, in order: iMac CRT (Rev. A-D in particular) Color Classic Duo 280c White iBooks Powerbook 100 series SE/30 Clamshell iBooks Performa 6400 Not necessarily best of breed, but certainly the friendliest. I've owned, at one ti…
