  • Bash for Dummies would be an excellent publication. I think -I'll- take the beer and figure out if the program is worth it, haha. By the way, the thing you installed (in case you didn't already know) allows you to connect with other iTunes li…

  • It's happening in Canada as well, I would assume the same with the U.S. I took advantage of it and now have a spiffy new computer and iPod. What more could a girl want?
  • Down to 5.2 GB now, lol. Anyway, it turns out iPod is smarter than iTunes. iTunes had two copies of some songs, but the iPod would only take one. Once I found and deleted the duplicates the track numbers matched.
  • I was just going to say, "Am I in the right forum?" Wow, thanks so much! I'll make an attempt at following this and edit this to let you know if you have a useless case on your hands or not. Edit: Houston, we have a problem. I see "Welcome t…

  • You see, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to Mac, so assume nothing. Basically, I'm trying to install a program but the instructions are a little beyond me. The Terminal App. doesn't want to run these commands so I'm doing something wrong…

  • Oo, found it! But here's the instruction I'm faced with... in /usr/bin run the following command from under \tthe root account \t\t./install It doesn't seem to work, possibly because I don't know where that directory is.

  • Hehe, thanks Meelash! I've yet to discover what most of these applications are even there for, like Garageband, so I'll stumble my way through.
  • Thank you : ) My genius plan of action is to play it through, see where the exclamation marks are, and look for a pattern. The catch is it'll take about five full days, lol.
  • Thanks for the suggestions! I'm so scared of doing something wrong though - I mean I'm proud I now know how to right click. To move to an external drive...would burning to a DVD be alright instead?
  • Under that link above you'll find another thread on this very topic. Basically you need to download the Intel version. That fixed it up for me. What I don't understand is that I couldn't find it the next day. O.o
  • Thanks Hobbes - I've only owned this thing for two days and I'm already down to 40 GB that are free. O.O Yay for DVD burners.
  • That makes sense. : ) My Compaq crashed on me quite a few times but thank goodness for that iPod!
  • The beauty of Mac is that it seems to know where to find the song, hehe. But no, not from iTunes. Mostly from CD's. I'll hopefully figure out which are missing and why by...*gulp*...doing some spring cleaning with the music collection.
  • I'm quite new to this Mac business, but I did briefly read up on this process today. I cannot, however, vouche that it works the way you wish as I haven't yet tried it. http://community.livejournal.com/ipod_ishare/profile ^ Scroll down to Guide…
  • Thanks so much for the clarification. And I can't tell you how relieved I am to be able to tap the trackpad again. After four years with a Compaq laptop I've been tapping this thing by accident all day.

  • No, not at the moment it doesn't matter, but I'm thinking long term. My camera takes large photographs - 8 MP, and I tend to take a lot of photos. I'm thinking over time this will take up a lot of space in my case, but I'll jump that hurdle when I g…
  • Thank you both for your replies. I'll wait until I have some idea of how to use this thing before trashing stuff, but that's a great idea. So long as it's normal, I'm happy.
  • I see your point, haha. There are a few photos I edited in Adobe PS that I did while still getting the hang of the application. Now that I know some better tricks I'd love to have those originals back. But yes it would be nice to have the option …
  • Thank you ever so much! It worked perfectly. I hope anyone who took the time to write those programs doesn't read this.
  • Thank you! It's under iTunes -> Preferences -> Advanced -> General in case anyone else has this problem. Edit: I think I did a rather foolish thing. I turned off the Copy setting while the music was copying. So I'm not sure if, by…
