I cringe at the thought that Font Book will physically move fonts from one directory location to another as a way of activating/deactivating. That surely will crawl for people who are typologically changed.

If you are working in a big repro house and have most of the big collections such as Font Folio and Bitstream etc the amount of fonts held can grow serious. I hold well above 12,000 now. Looks like Font Book won't be of any help after all.

So, the future is looking a bit better, even if we have lost Font Reserve. If Font Book truns out well, the likes of Extensis will need to offer more than they do today in order to justify the expense, as Font Book will come free with OSX.
