Discuss this in one of the other threads about the new eMacs. There are at least two. And this shouldn't be in Future Hardware, because the 1.25 GHz eMac is current hardware. Oh wait, I'm not a mod. *rings tiny bell*

Yep, new 8x DVD burner. Speeds match the Pioneer DVR-107, that's probably what it is. Funny that the eMac now has a faster DVD burner than the G5. Unfortunately, the media is super expensive, so generally you just use 4x media until the 8x becomes c…

Well, the eMac has a place in the small boxes along the bottom, but I guess the G5 is just too great to give up its spot in the center . Well, it IS a nice update. The low end now has 256 MB of RAM, so there are no more Macs with 128 MB anymore.…

What. The. Fuck. New eMac? They make us wait months and months with no product updates for THIS? And the front page is STILL that god damn G5 graphic! Get with the program Apple!!!

Last night I registered an ICQ number and added the one person I know who uses the service to my buddy list. Worked fine. I am wondering - are they planning to add some sort of message or progress dialog for file transfers? I have sent a few file…

Quote: Hi, a lot of college students here seem to be very paranoid. They are terrified to be labeled as gay. If I put my hand on a guy's arm for example when talking, he will think it's gay and say stop that, it's gay. It's an American vs. E…

It seems that even in the total absence of major events or product updates, Apple still can't get around to releasing the services they already announced. Watch. Next week, new PowerMacs announced. Stated availability: Mid-May. When you actually …

It's probably very difficult and scary, but... if your iBook is both out of warranty AND has a dead hard drive, then you should definitely consider the procedure. Hitachi makes the best laptop drives right now. They use fluid bearings so they are…

alcimedes, I'm not at my computer so I'm not entirely sure if this will work, but I believe when you create a new account, one of the options is "AIM/ICQ" or something along those lines. Since ICQ and AIM seem to work together pretty well, maybe you…

Thanks, that might work. Actually, I think something is wrong with Trillian. It's pretty nice but also very quirky. I tried joining some chats that I know are always full of people, and none of them had anyone in them. So I'll just try my luck with …

Nope, don't see anyone there. I never really liked .mac screen names anyway. They created this new format that many chat programs didn't recognize until they were updated. In my case, I'm at work, and I am unable to install the latest version of AIM…

What computer is it? You'll have to be more specific than saying it's an "old iMac." Tray loading or slot loading? What processor speed?

I'm there but I don't see anyone else there. Maybe it's because I'm using Trillian on Windows... I am not at home with my Mac, unfortunately. I don't know if Trillian can see .mac screen names.

When you import pictures, they are moved to your Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library folder. They are COPIED there. The originals can be deleted once they have been imported.

I would suggest using ffmpegX for DVD ripping. It can be confusing at first, but bear with it and it should work great. There are a lot of settings you can adjust with the program. First, though, you will probably have to remove the encryption by us…

Well, I had a Wallstreet like that for a while. I'd say go for something in between upgrading the hell out of it and selling it. As you said, you don't want to sell it. Personally, I think selling it would be better than spending hundreds of dollars…
