  • I'm running Tiger on a 400 Mhz G3 Powerbook. 10.3 or 10.4 should be okay on your iMacs, but I'd recommend 512MB or 1GB RAM. 10.3 would probably be a better choice.

  • OS X for Power PC share increased. Could that simply be OS 9 users upgrading to Mac OS X?
  • I'm still using a 400Mhz "Pismo" PowerBook with a G3 as my primary and only computer. I bought it in March 2000, and it's been a great computer for me. I recently upgraded the hard drive when I realized I wasn't going to have enough money for a new …

  • Personal opinion: If you're serious about buying it, I would consider this fair. However, if you can afford $100 or so for Tiger, would it really be that hard to pay an additional $10 for the CDs? Also, couldn't the person at the US address wh…
  • Yeah, numpad is very useful if you ever need to enter large quantities of numerical data. Also comes in handy for games like Civilization or Angband where you have 8 directional movement. Anyway, as others have said, the mouse is still too far aw…

  • I believe Tiger is supposed to have Safari 2.0. Safari 1.3 takes some of the page rendering improvements from Safari 2.0 and gives them to us Panther users. I don't think the animated gif thing will be fixed if it's true that dirty rectangle…
  • Any idea how a 400Mhz G3 (Pismo Powerbook) will handle Tiger? Sounds like most of the performance improvements are for G4s and advanced GPUs. I remember when people had dev versions of Panther, there were a lot of people still running G3s. Tha…
  • Are you trying to download to a folder you do not have write permissions on? My university once handed out hundreds of iBooks set up like this, so nobody could download anything on them.
  • SNES 9X Custom was a very good SNES Emulator for OS X. You should be able to find it with Google or VersionTracker

  • Agreed, great read. I especially enjoyed the feud with C&G and the parts with Steve Jobs.
