Palm OS is a good PDA OS - it is small footprint, the GUI is strong, hardware integration is strong, however, it is limited and it is not what Apple wants at this point.

The software you can download from a ton of Newton sites, or I could email/ftp it to you. I believe you need the Newton Connection Utility 2.0. I am also looking for an affordable ethernet card for my MP2000 upgraded. Anyone have any hookups?

I wasn't talking about August of 2000, I was talking like November, but I will assume that is what you meant.

And does anyone know why Apple stock dropped 50% in one day? Because they posted lower than expected earnings, not a loss, they still made a profit, Compaq and HP and Intel both declared losses that quarter and their stock did not drop 50%. He…

Fact is the stock market always improves on the long run, hence why short term investing is bad. I invested when it was in the mid $50s fact is I am in it for the long haul and so I am not too concerned about the $20 prices now. However, I am bitt…

Eugene - That last post was the most egotistical I have read in a while. And secondly, you didn't directly address my questions, you just disputed them.

OK, so I am insane, thanks for the name calling, but that aside want to tell me how it is that you are: Sure the word of mouth has hit its peak. and Sure that not being profitable in the first year is bad. [it is generally common among reta…

Most investors right now have no faith in anything but the short term, hence the high levels of trading and low stock prices, some one whispers a rumor and everyone dumps that is the price of having too many consumers in the stock market acting as c…

Eugene- All retail sales in all markets [volume and net profit] are down over xmas, normally a peak. This quarter should have been high for everyone, it wasn't therefore it makes sense that the strong finish Apple planned on did not happen. …

Eugene - your newness argument doesn't work, that would be to claim that stores don't increase their market penetration over time ... if so, I can't see how anyone succeeds.

"Still unprofitable" is misleading. Its hasn't been a year, and the economy is down, its also expected to be only a slight lost and isn't even reported yet so all this is pissing and moaning over nothing. Oh, and at the Mall of America store the…

Newton was holding an Apple in the original logo, it was too expensive to reproduce, the six color one was made up by a friend of someone at Apple, and Gasse said it was the perfect representation: lust, greed, chaos [all the colors of the rainbow b…

I agree, although I think that new hardware is also important, but yes, we need to look beyond Power Macs for Apple's growth, well beyond.

With those items included if it is in good working condition you are getting an excellent price. Generally on eBay 2100s go for $350-550. And don't worry about "out moded" technology, fact is a 2100 is still more powerful than any Palm or Pock…

I know an Apple Higher Edu rep. her email starts with her first name and then last initial, if this is typical then sjobs@apple.com would be kinda weird but whatever. Regarding working at Apple, I am looking to apply there, my understanding is th…

Anyone who REALLY [I know you were mostly kidding] thinks MS has that much pull over Apple is just naive but it does raise a good question, where are the Mac OS X commercials? I want Apple to go to war with MS as much as anyone, Power Computing s…

That is not accurate - Apple's profits the last several quarters were not low enough that their investments "saved" them as you say, however, one could honestly say that the fact that they do use their investments to off set slow quarters is props t…
